Is this situation one of the reasons that they have you claim a value for each card (for restitution and/or insurance purposes), or do they have you do that strictly to calculate how much they can rape you?

probably both...and it's a double edged sword. I feel like the few cards I've submitted to PSa have been high buck cards I usually downplay the value so as to pay less for PSA's quality grading service...I never even think that they could be lost?

The value you declare is what you will be reimbursed should PSA lose your card. Some of the cards wound up being worth more due to the grade attained. I have been submitting since early 2000's. This is the first package of mine that they have "lost". And I am still not convinced it is lost just yet. More like "misplaced". I am imagining a scene like the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark....when they stored away the ark at the end of movie.

tracking # for the returned cards?

Yea....the computer manually generated a tracking number at midnight on July 1st. But PSA has yet to tender the package to the post office. The tracking is like in "pre-shipment" mode, alerting me that a package is on the way.

If so, that would be reason for hope. Registered Mail can be slow at times. However, it tends to be the most secure delivery method. Packages are given different treatment (scanned every step of the way, kept under lock and key, etc.) than other items the Post Office handles. Pardon me if this was mentioned earlier. I had a busy weekend and didn't keep up on reading as much as I would have liked.

Thanks for everyone's advice. I did take the advice given and PM Nat Turner. Hopefully they can locate our group sub. Dave is telling me the package was handed off to USPS and they have lost the package. The info I am seeing tells me that was not the case. I will keep everyone updated. This is the tracking number is everyone wants to play along.

Fingers crossed. I know with insurance companies it is 4x your doctors bills. The package was valued right at $5k with slightly over $1,000 in grading fees. Some of the graded card values bumped that up a little bit.

Bobby, I’d like to speak to these guys via a phone chat or a zoom. This is not an acceptable solution. They have spent 4 weeks waiting on an investigation from the USPS and haven’t done anything else during that time.
They have noted they confirmed it left their facility but haven’t disclosed HOW they confirmed that. Was it word of mouth? Has anyone actually walked the floor to see? Just feels like they are banking this all on the USPS investigation without any backtracking that I can see. Last edited by Thromdog; 08-04-2021 at 07:23 PM. |

![]() ![]() Years ago I tried a case against PSA over a Magie they threw away and was appalled to learn that they had no monitoring or electronic surveillance of the unpacking room, so no record of what happened when my client's package was opened. If they still have no surveillance it would be shocking, especially given the easy tech that is now available. Yet not surprising...

They only want to pay the declared value. Nothing extra for the grades that the cards attained. That is why it is so important for you to DECLARE VALUES PROPERLY!!!!!

Declared value was from July of 2020. The values of the cards have increased substantially in that time and has to be considered.
I am out 15 cards including 10 that will take a long time to find and replace and for more money than they were worth 12 months ago by a bunch. Hoping we can have a conversation with their team to get this fixed because it really isn’t right. Last edited by Thromdog; 08-07-2021 at 11:53 PM. |

They keep trying to pin this on the USPS, but my info shows this package was never even handed off to the USPS. Did a disgruntled employee see it just laying around too long and decided to take it home?? Enquiring minds want to know. And that is also crazy that they want to pay out last years prices. I would like to get cards at last years prices as well.

I know emotionally you guys are right about what PSA should do, but I would check what you actually sign off on when you submit. I would be shocked to find out that their response isn't exactly what is prescribed by the submission contract. If you agree to it, it doesn't really matter what feels right.

I understand what you are saying Scott. In this day of social media and their good name though, they need tp do the right thing. If they value me as a customer they need to do the right thing. We will see.

Like I said, I feel for you. There's a difference between legal and "right" I just wouldn't count on them going the extra step to make things right. I hope I'm wrong.

I know how you feel, but unfortunately, do you really think PSA is going to care about whatever is said about them on social media? I know it isn't to you or anyone else involved, and it should be bigger, but IMO this is likely a minor issue to PSA especially compared to the PWCC/trimmed issues and how did that really impact them.

I think there is a gray area for any upcharged card. PSA in effect disregarded the declared value and substituted its own value determination, so limiting you to a declared value that PSA itself refused to honor doesn't seem equitable. As for the rest of the cards, well, the contract terms would dictate the outcome most likely.

I admittedly don’t know the legal aspects, but to me it seems like the declared value would apply if PSA lost the cards while they were still raw; however, after being graded they would have obtained a new value based on that grade in the current market?
