Lol. Wow. This is up there with one of the most egregious mistakes I have ever seen with TPG.

It’s a good thing they’ve tightened their grading standards.

I wonder what will happen at the authentication stage if this ends up being sold.

Yeah, but to be fair to the grader of this card, you have to read a lot of other text on the back before you get to the reprint notice.

It's what they do. That's their business model. You present a card, they slab it with a number, you pay to get the card returned, case closed. It then is what it is, i.e a slabbed card with a number on it, for most buyers.

I suppose if PSA took the time to do everything right, your common submission would take 6 months instead of 3. God knows they won't hire more people to reduce the burden and improve service -- that isn't the Modern American Way.

Maybe PSA will approach the winning bidder with a free membership and some party favors like they did with this one...

The T206 Heinie that was slabbed a Honus gets my vote. I wish I would’ve saved a scan years ago when it was for sale on eBay.

It's weird; except for the novelty bidders, this is an auction for money. The PSA guarantee is worth far more than a reprint, so, again, unless you're doing it for the novelty factor, the thing to do if you win this auction is to call in the PSA guarantee (assuming that they honor it). Which means that you should expect the auction to end at whatever the guarantee for this card is.

As a novelty bidder I pushed it to the current price. $20 shipped for a cool PSA error was my limit as I had no plans for trying to get PSA to honor anything.

The guarantee is out the window on mechanical label errors which is what they
will claim.

There will be no authentication. That's only after the $250 threshold.

14 bids and 20 watchers...if enough of them think it's real it could reach that threshold. (Certainly at least some of them are missing the fact that it's a reprint, right?)

Hey Kids,

Reading the back, the card will be punched when redeemed for a prize.

I imagine if the card had been punched, either

a) it wouldn't have received the same grade or

b) the grader would have lost his reserved parking in the PSA lot.

It's an interesting question. My understanding is that ebay authentication does 2 things with graded cards. They authenticate the slab itself to verify it wasn't tampered with, and they verify the item matches the description. But they don't re-authenticate the card within the slab at all (like they would for a raw card). So my guess is that since the description is accurate and the slab has not been tampered with, it would pass. But it's a weird situation where the description is different from what's on the slab, but references that the label is an error.

As of date and time of posting, it's gotten 18 bids and is now at $100. 30 people are watching it.

Are these reprints collectors' items in their own right? COMC has an unslabbed copy on eBay, also identified as a reprint, for which they're asking $56.89 as a "Buy It Now."

FYI - COMC are not the people setting the asking price, the submitters are and frankly what price they set a card for sale as is the submitter's business. To me, a person has a right at COMC, on EBay, at a show, at a store, or even on a place like the Net 54 B/S/T to ask what they want for a card. The consumer/collector has the right to say yes, to try to negotiate a price or to say it's a museum piece and I have not a shred at interest at that price level,

Rich.

What's the problem? So PSA forgot to add the text "Jalfco Reprint" on the label. Sheesh, everyone makes mistakes.

If PSA is smart then they are the ones who bought it.
