Default Unbelieveable

This will probably end up as the "featured" lot in the next Coaches Corner auction

Everyone send in your wagner reprints to ACA and let them get graded...watch the two fools complain that they are devaluing their card and theirs is the only true wagner, blah blah blah....

Man, it's amazing that these two are still hanging on to that stupid reprint like it's going to make them rich

Note to owners of card : IT'S FAKE AND EVERYONE ALREADY KNOWS IT.

I haven't heard that slogan since the last time I bought genuine cubic zirconias from Taipei.

Looking at this price book from 1993 it looks like fake cards have been graded as long as originals:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Basebal...#ht_675wt_1185

I am not sure who graded the cards because there is no name on them but they are clearly fake cards.

Those look like Acu-Card holders, the name is on the back. I have a Delong graded by them. It is genuine. But it may be trimmed as it's the first card in the set and it's graded a 7. The cuts also look too clean and new. It was very inexpensive, maybe even less than a nice looking SGC A.

I can't see slabbing reprints even to use as props for a book cover. The potential bad PR is a killer.

They were pretty early in the grading business. If it's the company I'm thinking of they were local to Boston and even did grading at in-store events.

I recently read a very similar pitch in the Nigerian email scam.

Default My head hurts!

Brouillard based his grade in part on research done by paper expert Walter Rantanen, who examined the card in 2003 at the request of Edwards and Cobb and concluded the paper stock was consistent "with being from 1910."

Brouillard also relied in part on printing expert Arnie Schwed, who also examined the card for Edwards and Cobb and said it was definitely not a counterfeit.

Steve Allen once coined a word he called "dumbth." All of these people possess mass quantities of dumbth.

I wonder if they have a problem with sending it to an auction house now. Or will they sleep on the couch of the auction house.

True. Considering the collectibles CC sells, the Wagner will barely qualify.

The latest business model seems to be someone claiming to be a grader or authenticator with not only no skills whatsoever in grading or authenticating, but with no real interest in exercising any ethical standards whatsoever. These businesses are no more than fronts who collect big fees from people that need the services of these sleazy operations. What a crock of shit.

These guys are authenticators the same way Tony Soprano was a waste management expert.

Too funny, Chris. Thanks for sharing. Bogus card in a bogus holder. Just too much!

Best,
