Default PSA slab cert not found question?

Hey guys,
There is a PSA signed card that im looking to buy on eBay. When I ran the certification number on the PSA website it comes back to “no results found”. Why would it come back like that? This item is an old blue PSA label, not sure if that makes a difference? Thank you for your help with this. I appreciate it.

I have had that happen to me a few times when using the app. I just chalked it up to an app bug.

Can you post an image? It's possible they decertified it in their system.

Hey John,
It’s the 1956 topps Elston Howard currently on auction on eBay.

What would be some of the reasons PSA decerts slabs?

I do find it interesting that no one made a bid on it yet.

Common reasons for decertification:
1) Card has been revealed as trimmed/altered/counterfeit by internet Velmas and PSA decertifies cert so it can be recalled and put into an Altered holder or cracked out if counterfeit.
2) Cards submitted to PSA at same time in quantity may have accidentally been given duplicate cert numbers and multiple copies are detected, leading PSA to request both cards be sent in for re-authentication and to move one to a new cert.
3) PSA slab counterfeiters may have used the number again and put in a lesser condition or fake card to pass it off as the PSA-graded card. Happened a lot with the guy from Mexico. Once PSA detects that a counterfeiter uses the same cert number, they decert the real cert and ask the original owner (and all counterfeit slab owners) to send the cards back in for re-authentication.
4) Card has been reported to PSA as Stolen.

Temporary reasons for decertification:
1) Glitch. There was a time when the PSA 8 Honus Wagner disappeared from the Pop Report for a few days, and we guessed that it might be at PSA getting moved into an Altered slab. That was incorrect, as PSA just said it was having a computer glitch.
2) Cards are being reviewed in the slab. Once they come in, PSA decerts it before determining if it deserves a grade bump.

If it goes for over $250 and requires Authenticity Guarantee, it also may be kicked back unless the seller changes their metadata that claims the card is from 1964.

Thanks guys. I appreciate your thoughts on it. With only one day left on auction and not a single bid on it speaks volumes. I think I will skip bidding on this auction. Better to be safe than sorry.
