Default Greg Morris Cards is bonkers!

In a good way! Like tonight there are sooo manyyyy card auctions ending. It would be a full time job just to sort through and see what you want to bid on. On top of that they are mostly in some semblance of order but then there are random cards thrown in the mix. It's overwhelming. I don't know what the solution would be... I can't imagine how they list so many cards. Also, where do all these high grade cards come from?

I admit, I do enjoy Greg Morris. I picked up a ton of Allen & Ginter Flags and Birds and American Indian cards over the last year or so…

They have that many cards ending 7 days a week... You either have to bid early with a high bid or use a snipe service. It is my understanding that they do not submit cards to grading companies so everything that comes in ungraded gets sold ungraded.

Yup, sure seems that way.

Bummer they don't offer a PWE option for cards that sell at a lower price. $4.95 is a lot to pay if you've only won .99 card.

How many cards do they sell for $0.99? I thought all their prices were usually higher than that.

When you no longer bid in a particular seller’s auctions, because his fine, trusted stature in the hobby has made bidders flock to his offerings and considerably raise the prices of each card well beyond what they ‘should’ be.

Funny, I was going to make a similar comment. And it's only a compliment to them, and tough luck for me! eBay will email hita on my saved searches; when I see it's GMC selling the items in question, I rarely ever bid any more, only so as to not waste the time in setting a snipe!

Nobody bids there anymore, it's too crowded...

GM barred me after I made a negative comment on the board about their grading. One less auction house to worry about.

If you alert them that you are bidding in multiple auctions ending over different days, they would hold your winnings and combine shipping up to a specified period of time. It used to be 6 days - not sure if they still do this.

I sell a good bit on ebay. Weekly vintage auctions. Greg Morris Cards has been my largest buyer for several years. I know he resells on his auctions and gets more money - but that's ok. I welcome his bids.

I recently sent him a massive lot of vintage football that I decided not to try and break down. They sold the whole lot in a few weeks. It would have taken me a year. I'm pleased with the return and the results I got as a consignor. Their fees are what they are. His back-end site for consignors is very very cool.

I've also started buying from his auctions as well.

I do wonder if he doesn't push out some smaller sellers on ebay though. It seems like he is breaking one of every set a week.

I think more than anything he grades mostly accurately so buyers feel comfortable with what they are getting. I started to grade and list in a similar fashion to him several years ago. It has helped my sales I think.

Hard to win many sets/lots at auction anymore with them needing inventory.

(If you were wondering how they always have sets to break)

I’ve noticed that he’s sold so much on eBay that his descriptions have been adopted by the eBay auto populate system. I see lots of cards with his specific card descriptions (specifically “filler”) with other sellers and last night I was bidding on some Remar Bread cards that were ending and didn’t realize until the last second it was a different seller because the item lines ended with GMC.

That's actually from people clicking "sell one of these" and not updating the description at all.

And if he doesn't sell enough on eBay, there is Gregmorrismarketplace.com where he has ungraded cards ending every day. Currently over 2k cards listed. I've bought several times there, always waiting a week or 10 days to pay, taking advantage of the flat $4.95 shipping.

And why would you doubt what I said in the first place?
There was a whole thread about this a few years back discussing the Ebay Authentication Program when I had a '49 Bowman tossed back and made a few mild negative comments about the deterioration of their grading standards. Subsequently, they gave me the hook.
I find your comment mildly offensive.

I purchase quite a bit from GMC. I always bid what I feel is a comfortable purchase price only the day the auction ends and i have won my share of auctions both name players and Common.

Shipping can be a little slow after payment. I am currently waiting for close to a week for them to send me an invoice with combined shipping. I've emailed them three times. They may be getting a little too busy for their current setup.

After all they list approximately 25 to 30,000 cards a week.

Stupid question, but how do you place a snipe in Greg Morris Cards (clarify: his website, not eBay)

It's not unusual I was banned from GMC (but not GMC graded). I bought a B18 Johnson on ebay from them . The picture was not great with black background concealing the black border. When I got it all 4 corners had tack holes. They are really cool about returns but I suggested that they not relist it without disclosing the tack holes which were hard to see in the scan. They relisted it without disclosing the tack holes. I wrote 3 times with no reply so I left neutral feedback and was banned. It my mind they are jerks for not being able to be called out for bad seller habits with little or no description on ungraded items. I also agree with another poster that they buy sets or large groups in auctions and sell individually on ebay. Im not sure how they or anyone makes money doing that. I doubt they do so Im sure the goal is to build their brand. To be banned with zero communication means to me they are a bad ebay seller, one I don't mind ignoring

I buy 1971 Baseball cards from Gregg Morris on ebay every few weeks. I wish they wouldn't put the black piece of paper behind the black boarder cards when they scan the cards. I would probably buy more if I could see the whole card boarders.

GM recognized a fantastic business opportunity in this hobby; namely the fact that average Joe collectors grading their own raw cards was something that had gone down the tubes because all anyone cares about anymore is grading. Though I will agree that his standards have slipped some (I'm sure a problem of scale) - when he first started, Greg was one of the only large sellers where you could buy an accurately graded / described raw vintage card. It's hard to give him too much credit for that, it was something that was desperately needed.

Similar experience here. I'm fine with the couple of places that can't take it when you ask about poor service. They are actually very nice in the office. They just have a quick block. They don't need me, I don't need them. it's a win-win so I'm good with it. They also won't get my business as a seller which they were in my trust to handle. They are 20 minutes from me. It's all fine. They are too big to ever fail.
