I have had 2 very recent mailing issues with Sterling Auctions and another board member. I won a small item in Sterling and sent a check as I am a cheap bastard and will save a few percent when I can. After weeks, I got an email saying it hadn't arrived. Lee and I (*hey Lee) just said he would ship and we could make it right on advertising....About a month later Lee said he got the check and it looked like the USPS machine messed up the envelope. He just tore it up, no problem.

On the other, it was one of those huge Team pics that was auctioned on the front page. I sent it out within a few days and sometime later (3 weeks'ish) the winner asked about it. I tracked it and it only showed, in transit. I told him I would go ahead and refund him (it was a small amount but still) and he said just wait. Quite some time later (maybe a month) he said he finally got it. Stuff happens.
