Cards From The B/S/T Finally Arrived!

Seller had a nice group of cards up for sale. I responded with a PM. We agree and the money is sent. Weeks go by, no cards. I send PMs and am told, tracking and a photo show delivery. Well, they did not come to me. Seller won't send me the tracking number or the photo. So I am out the money, and no cards.

I have learned this hard lesson over and over...if it seems too good to be true, it is.

Peter_Spaeth 03-29-2025 09:19 PM

Well that sucks, sorry to hear it. Any reason you aren't IDing the seller?

How long had the seller been a member and about how many posts did he have? In other words, was he a well known poster (at least to you)?

jingram058 03-29-2025 09:31 PM

He's a long time net54 member. As Leon would say, there is 2 sides to every story. I don't want to out him here. It does pretty much suck to be out the money and the cards.

Apple_Robert 03-29-2025 09:52 PM

The seller never provided you the tracking number? If that is accurate, then the onus is on him, in my opinion.

I have yet to sell anything here. However, I have sold several thousands of dollars worth of Apple MacBook Pros, iPad Pros and iPhones over the 12+ years I have been a member on a very well-known site and have always provided tracking, as well as requiring signature delivery, and have never had a problem.

If the story is accurate as stated, I think the long time member should refund your money with an apology. Granted sometimes an emergency happens, which can delay shipping etc. but, that is rare and members who care about their forum integrity and ability to transact, will make sure to communicate and do the right thing.

raulus 03-29-2025 10:01 PM

So was the deal raw, or were the cards raw?

Or maybe both?

That right there is Bullshit. What's the purpose of a tracking number if the seller won't share it. Tracking, imo, is more for the buyer than the seller so the buyer can watch, see the shipping history knowing thereabouts when the cards are to arrive.
Did the seller tell you tracking would be provided when he sold you the cards?

Curious about the other side of the story on this one.

Fred 03-29-2025 10:41 PM

I've never asked for a tracking number from the BST sellers because all of the sellers I've purchased from have PROVIDED the tracking number the day the goods are sent. I've done the same thing when I send a package. I always provide the tracking information ASAP. It just seems natural.

Edited to add: If the item is inexpensive, I can understand the lack of tracking, but for anything worth over $100, I think it's appropriate.

bnorth 03-29-2025 10:49 PM

Without naming the seller what is the point of this thread?

commishbob 03-29-2025 10:49 PM

I can't think of a single good reason not to send the tracking number outside of an accident, serious illness, or family crisis.

I haven't sold much here (or elsewhere) but when I do I've sent the tracking number immediately, usually from the lobby of my local PO.

Sure hope this has a good resolution.

+1, this is SOP on BST.

Aquarian Sports Cards 03-29-2025 11:17 PM

The fact that, after things went wrong, the seller won't share the tracking, seems much worse to me than not providing it in the first place and is very suspicious.

Balticfox 03-29-2025 11:23 PM

I agree. Not providing the tracking number when things have gone awry is extremely suspicious.

JollyElm 03-29-2025 11:25 PM

or maybe.....

Or maybe a bit earlier a 1978 Topps set???? Sorry this happened..... does not sound like other deals Ive done on Net54 where the tracking number is sent as soon as payment is made.... unless I request my El Cheapo PWE ( whcih hasnt ever failed me yet BTW). Rocky

Did the seller provide a reason for not providing the tracking number and delivery picture that you can share in this thread? If not, it doesn't sound like his side of the story is very strong.

toledo_mudhen 03-30-2025 04:34 AM

If you haven't already - you need to get with Leon (or maybe he is already aware?) and let him know the particulars on this deal.

jingram058 03-30-2025 05:29 AM

This morning he sent a photo of the package of cards, but it is sitting on the desk in his home, prior to shipment. But still no tracking number. I do not believe he ever mailed it.

How would you like being ripped off? Thanks much for the sarcastic BS I would expect.

notfast 03-30-2025 06:13 AM

Another reason to have informed delivery w/ USPS and the corresponding apps for Fed Ex/UPS.

Even so, seller sucks and should be outed.

ClementeFanOh 03-30-2025 06:40 AM

raw card deal

James-

This scenario should never happen on net54 as described. The refusal to
provide tracking is the equivalent of this seller wearing a T-shirt with the
phrase "I'm Lying!" in phosphorescent letters. The onus here is on the seller,
rather than on you for being savvy to every possible safety net offered by
shippers. If you are venting by typing this note, I get it. If you are looking
for advice, I'd suggest you press the issue through Leon privately.

Trent King

PS- I have yet to read a single useful comment from Republicaninmass,
ignore him. Most people use milk on cereal, he evidently pours whiskey.
A real charmer:)

jingram058 03-30-2025 06:43 AM

I have sent all of this to Leon. I wanted to get some forum exposure without having to out the seller. No need for that. There may be some sort of issue there. We'll see.

Leon 03-30-2025 06:57 AM

I will contact the very long time member and see what is going on.

Sometimes, I don't provide tracking on items I ship, sometimes I do. I do every time someone asks for one though. And I offer immediate refunds even if there is much of a delay, until the item arrives.

IF a buyer asks for tracking and it's agreed that he should have it, I don't see much of a reason to not give it. I wouldn't want those kinds of sellers on the BST, but this is out of character for him.

Also, I got a pm yesteday that someone was selling cards they don't have. Another company owns them. If this happens, and you are caught, you will be banned.

Why? If the seller had an issue, what's the need for exposure on the forum, especially before you even know what's going on? Are you planning on posting what it was if you find out?

Hi James
After conferring with the seller, it seems he was correct from what I am seeing. Maybe the fact it went to all of the USPS centers below was the problem. I am pretty sure he gave this info to you too, except you might not have drilled down far enough in the USPS system. Here is what it shows for your package.....I just cut and pasted it

So did seller give buyer the tracking number or not?

I don't care if he gave him tracking history. Buyer always deserves the actual tracking number.

Whenever I sell a card, the buyer gets a photo of the package with the label and tracking number affixed.

If the tracking number was shared, that changes things. But if not, seller should be ashamed.

tycobb 03-30-2025 11:13 AM

I feel it should be standard practice to provide buyers with a tracking number. It doesn’t take long to write or take a picture of it. The tracking number is so valuable for so many reasons. So much can be accomplished and avoided with it. Without it well [emoji102][emoji1375]

If the details provided by Leon are accurate, then it sounds like the raw deal for the raw cards might become slightly less raw at some point soon.

I hope they get to you!

Definitely no fun sitting around interminably waiting for cards to arrive after you’ve made payment, particularly if the seller isn’t very forthcoming with the details around shipment.

No sir. He never gave me the tracking. He kept repeating that he would provide tracking but never did. This morning, he provided a photo of the package BEFORE he mailed it, sitting on his desk. He seemed to think I was accusing him of never having mailed it, which is not the case. I thought the package was lost or stolen, but he never gave me the tracking, so all I could do is guess. Maybe someday it will arrive, although with tracking like this, who knows. The photo he sent this morning does have my correct address on the package. This is probably the worst example of USPS tracking I have ever seen.

Lorewalker 03-30-2025 11:25 AM

Not sure why the seller stated tracking shows package delivered since the info that Leon posted shows the package is clearly still in transit. There is NO reason a tracking number should ever be withheld by a seller. Not sure why this is ok?

If the cards do end up lost this is one reason it is great to have slabbed cards with cert numbers.

Peter_Spaeth 03-30-2025 12:00 PM

It often seems to be the case that once a USPS package goes off course, it stays there for a while. That said, the trip out to Colorado is remarkable.

Apple_Robert 03-30-2025 12:01 PM

It appears good communication from the start from the seller (and during the shipping process) could have prevented the buyer from getting rightfully frustrated.

I recently made a forum purchase from Seablaster and he provided tracking right away (without me having to ask first) and let me know, that he feels he is responsible for the package until it arrives to the buyer. In my opinion, that kind of seller experience on here is A+ and something everyone should provide.

On the other forum I am a member of, I have also made it a point at times to send a message to the buyer during shipping, letting him or her know that I am actively tracking the package and am aware of its location (or delay). It helps quell most concerns of the buyer when he or she knows you care.

I'll take "It's the principle" for $15, Alex.

Personally, if I feel ripped off, I am going to say something, $15 or $1500. James didn't put Ocatavio's name out here. He was just pissed at the situation. I think there were some miscommunications, or human error, and will just leave it at that. It doesn't matter a whole lot. (it can be argued, but I won't care :))

The cards were shipped on time and USPS is a joke on this one.

To clarify too, yes, if a member asks for a tracking number, and tracking was to be provided in the shipping (how can it not be?), then it should be given to the buyer.

Both are good members. Happy collecting!
