It’s 5:07 a.m. where is today’s post? Your not sleeping in because it’s Sunday?
I check the thread every morning. Great way to start the day!
It makes me a little sad that there is only about 50 days left in the year. I know people will add to the thread but I am going to miss your daily post.
You have done a tremendous job and it made the year 2020 a liot better.
I hope Brooks has caught wind of the thread and has viewed it. Wouldn’t that be nice !

Scott,

I stayed up late last night, but woke up early this morning. I've been studying a lesson to teach 5th graders at church. I keep going down in age...stated with HS/College and Career, then Middle School, then 6th grade and now 5th. I guess that's basically my level now...

Thanks for the compliment. It's tough sometimes to do something daily, PLUS keep it interesting at the same time. Today's post isn't the most exciting and has been shown before.

Day 313 (November 8, 2020 – 313)

I believe all of these items have been posted before, but this is what I have for today...

In 1992 Crown put out the All Time Baltimore Orioles Action Stand Ups in three sets. Today I’ve pictured a 1992 Crown gas pump display sign advertising Set 1, which was available now, of the All Time Action Stand Ups. Personally, the cards are a bit plain looking with the white background, but I do like the advertising sign. They have a puffy Brooks attached to the sign to attract you to go ahead and get the set.

Here is another signed book (published 2006) by Tom Adelman "Black & Blue" which chronicled the 1966 World Series..As an aside when Palmer signed it he mentioned that this was his wife's favorite book:

Day 314 (November 9, 2020 – 314)

The Orioles had a good season in 1968 finishing 91-71 for a second-place finish behind the Detroit Tigers who went on to win the World Series. Hank Bauer was the manager of the Orioles but was replaced right after the All-Star break by Earl Weaver.

Who needs a ticket to an Oriole game in 1968 when you have a pass.

I personally like the look of the 1968 Topps cards and while I’m not a big fan of the team cards I think the Orioles team card in ‘68 looks pretty good.

I didn’t even know about the Venezuelan cards when I was younger and even when I first started to collect Brooks, I was unaware of their existence. Sometime along the line I saw them and of course had to try to acquire the Brooks examples.

End today with two 1968 Oriole picture pennants.

I wish there had been Rawlings promotional/advisory photos with Cal Ripken Jr. (as they had done with Brooks, Boog, Mantle, etc.)..

One of my more unique Ripken related Rawlings pieces is this workbook from 1996 which was sent to coaches & AD's for them to order bats, gloves, etc.:

Is that a baseball added three times in different (odd) positions on the left side? The shadows are an exact match, so I assume they are not 'three-punch holes' in the workbook.

Bill,

A very cool piece. It remined me of the many catalogs I received as a high school baseball coach. Here's another catalog from Baseball Express that featured Cal on the cover in 1996.

Mark,

That's a pretty nice looking Venezuelan card of Brooks. We are lucky that most of the Venezuelan sets contain at least one Brooks Robinson card.

I'm slowly working on the 1968 set, but haven't found the Brooks card, at the price point and condition, I want to pull the trigger on yet.

I have picked up the Brooks Robinson All-Star and Orioles team card.
