My opinion about Atlantic City:
Not as good as Chicago or Baltimore, better than Cleveland. Plus it's nice to be the "home team" once in a while. I'll take it. -Al |

There will always be locations that are convenient for some, and not for others. But for Gosh Sake, pick a "Hub City" or at least a place that most people can get to on a direct flight. Or stop calling it "THE NATIONAL"
Very disappointing to those not living specifically in the NE... I'll be taking 2020 off as well. |

Atlantic City?
Shit. That last show sucked in every possible way: inconvenient travel, bad accommodations, lousy venue. One of our members got bedbugs in the hotel (Caesars). But at least it was expensive. And at the rate they are closing there may not even be any casinos left in town. Looks like I will have to spend my summer vacation with my family. ![]()

Allegedly.
I'll be there, don't care where it is. |

I'd love to see Pittsburgh have it. Large beautiful convention center in a great location, downtown on the river, in the heart of everything. Seems like that would be a fun location that would offer everything people want.

Bugs in his room didn't seem exclusive to Atlantic City.

Atlantic City was excellent last year. I will gladly go to AC over Cleveland. Cleveland to me is the turd in the rotation.

Cleveland is a rebounding city. We spent a day their last spring on trip to Cooperstown, Rock & Roll HoF, Kimpton Hotel, some good food, walked around the ballpark ( it was before the season). it's more or less centrally located too.

Cleveland is great. Atlantic City was very good. Chicago is good. I would like to see some effort made to add Dallas, Denver, St. Louis, and Kansas City to the list of cities. It doesn't look like that is happening, and the west coast is likely out as well. People can vote, but the current board has all the power and they really don't care what the exhibitors want. I'm getting too old to worry about much beyond 2019, but I would love to see them go out on a limb and schedule a National somewhere other than the above three. Not sure what happened with Baltimore either, it was an excellent show, a great place to visit.

Yeah, AC is a two hour drive from the largest population center in the US. Simply impossible to get to. |

If the National were in any one of the East's great cities serviced by a major airport, I bet no one would gripe. |

The board has been full of stories about people driving to this years National. Sure many people from the Midwest drove long distances to get there. Philadelphia is a fairly large airport and that's 40 minutes closer than NY. People fly into Philly every day to gamble in Atlantic City. My understanding is the dealers vote for the locations, so they idea that Atlantic City is boycotted by large numbers of people obviously makes no sense. Sure the leading auction houses in the business, many of which are based in NJ or have offices in NYC, are pretty happy. Last edited by Snapolit1; 08-02-2017 at 03:12 PM. |

If you have to fly to the National this is a horrible choice. I will skip AC again and will skip all future AC Nationals.

In all fairness, the Javits Center in midtown can be two hours from JFK when the stars fail to align
