Anyone have any ideas how to remove old cardboard from wood? I found this link but am going to be sweating bullets when I get my hands on this piece?
http://www.sportscollectorsdigest.co...res/nerattowle I have soaked some stuff in the past but this will be taking things to the next level. I can't help but imagine some of the scraps are from a Polar Bear Wagner ![]() |

Congrats on the purchase! I can't help you with the wood + T206 separation, but if you can't find a way to remove the cards yourself and you don't want to keep the lid as is. Perhaps Dick Towle might offer some help. I have never use his services, nor am I even sure if he is still a Net54 member, but if all else fails.
Good luck! Lovely Day... Quote:

Okay, never-mind, I see you are aware of Dick Towle's skills. Next time, I will make a mental note to read any links provided before posting stuff.

Simply resell it as "T206...." and make a quick profit...
![]() I like the idea of trying to extract one Demmitt and preserving the rest. |

+1... that would be an easy double or more (in my opinion) with T206 in the title.

When I first saw the pics in the OP's first post, I didn't really like the piece. After I looked at the auction on eBay and saw the full lid with all the cards, I changed my mind and I really like it in it's entirety. And I agree that displaying it as is on the wall is a great idea. Very unique and special piece.
Best, AndyH

One can only imagine the travels those cards have seen.
If it were mine I would leave it alone and display as is.

I agree about leaving it alone and displaying as is. If you do try and soak it, I would take a saw and cut one of the top beaters off and soaking it in water for a couple of hours and see if the glue will let go.

I was bidding on it as well, but my bid was only $383, I didn't want to pay that much for 2 Demmitts I don't think you could get off that tool box lid. I was hoping no one else paid attention to it.
I was just doing some random ebay searches when I found that auction, almost did not take the time to look at the pictures, and when I saw 2 Demmitts, I could not believe it. |

That piece is perfect the way it is. I wouldn't dream of trying to remove the cards.
