One can only imagine the travels those cards have seen.
If it were mine I would leave it alone and display as is.

I agree about leaving it alone and displaying as is. If you do try and soak it, I would take a saw and cut one of the top beaters off and soaking it in water for a couple of hours and see if the glue will let go.

I was bidding on it as well, but my bid was only $383, I didn't want to pay that much for 2 Demmitts I don't think you could get off that tool box lid. I was hoping no one else paid attention to it.

I was just doing some random ebay searches when I found that auction, almost did not take the time to look at the pictures, and when I saw 2 Demmitts, I could not believe it.

Default Nice!

That piece is perfect the way it is. I wouldn't dream of trying to remove the cards.

I bid on it with the intention of removing one of the Demmitts to sell and leaving the other Demmitt and all other cards intact as is.

I bought it with the intention of removing the cards... but the more I think about it that plan may change. I was going to sell one of the Demmitts, along with the Cy Youngs and HOFs, to basically get a Demmitt for free but now I worry I might be destroying the true value (not to mention possibly the cards as well) in separating them. I can't wait to see it up close! Once I get them and take some better pics I may put a poll up and let the good people of Net54 decide it's fate.
