There is nothing like a red cobb portrait when it has that blazing color, with bright white borders.....Hal Case Pink gets a close second, just so hard to find in high grade!!

Default Images on red/ green Cobbs

Backstroke- You are not quite correct on the images being the same. They are in fact different.....Hope someone can post scans to show the differences.

The red Cobb/green Cobb is a good example of just how much difference there is among the T206 portraits (as is the pink Chase/blue Chase). You might prefer the 'artwork' done to create portraits like the red Cobb, Devlin, Merkle, blue Chase or Mathewson, but they weren't created by the same artists as the green Cobb, Johnson, Young, Evers, Brown, Dougherty, pink Chase. To me, the difference in style/technique is so clear that you could go through all the portraits and drop most of them in buckets, by artist(s).

The fact that most of them were made from photos by Horner makes no difference - it's obvious that multiple artists transformed the photos into lithographs.

And, by and large, the star players were given to the best artists (not always, though).

A back-burner project has been to drop each T206 in an artist 'bucket', then check the results. Some of it is personal preference, as indicated by the board split on the green vs red Cobb, but what you said makes sense.
