The 2007 Krause Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards is about as good as it gets for vintage card prices, in a periodical, imo. I was thumbing through it this morning and noted how many of the prices are spot on. Of course the drastic swings in the very best cards make it obsolete from day one...but it's still pretty good. It seems the more scarce, of higher the grade, the more the Krause is off, which makes sense.....regards |

...Peter, but looking at a periodical hard-copy price guide is essentially like reading a book full of numbers that don't mean anything. |

I would not even bother with any periodical because by the time they print them and distribute they are out date. |

Bobby, I would like to try your site, but everytime I attempt to register I get kicked off the internet. I have AOL, and tried to go thru the SGC site also, same results. I have no problem with any other web sites. |

I prefer Lemke's SCD. (I don't think this is the same as the guide Leon referred to). The prices are off, but, the checklisting, photos and set histories are awesome. |

Bobby is right...anything already in print, how can you expect to be "current" values? An out of date price guide, is probably about half the money of what it would cost to join vintagecardprices.....I don't understand some people that spends thousands of dollars on cards but then get cheap everywhere else... |

Beckett has doubled the prices of commons and HOFers previously around 500 up to around 1000. The Mathewsons and Johnsons are now listed in the 2K range. Its about time that Beckett caught up with the increased prices. |

If you are buying graded cards you want the most up-to-date info on pricing. Thus vintagecardprices.com |

I really just concentrate on T206's...at least lately...Vintagecardprices if the best for following up to date auction prices....as far as for ungraded...www.t206.net is pretty fair in letting you know about ebay auctions for ungraded and graded...it just doesn't show all the ones vintagecardprices has, but it does show ungraded and BIN's |

I have found that the best place for card prices has been the SCD then auction realizations. I think it was said best here already, there're only GUIDES, bid what you think it's worth to you and you should come out ok most of the time, win or lose. IMO |

Trevor- add my two cents to your two cents. Now we have four cents...plus we agree there are still many collectors who prefer cards raw. Good for them, if they are happy I am happy. |
