For those who missed it, this card sold on eBay a couple of months ago. I did not win it but saved the image. It is the 1907 Hutchinson team so it is not an "earlier" image of Joe Wood, rather a contemporary but somewhat later one. All the same, it is a nice depiction of a young Smokey Joe. |

Earlier this year, somebody sold a bunch of 1899-00 Sporting Life magazine cut outs of baseball players of the time on Ebay. Joe Wood was one of the players depicted on those cut outs, and it sold for over $200 if i remember correctly. I saved some of the scans, but i can only find this one player right now, but you get the idea of what the 1899-00 Sporting Life magazine baseball player images look like. |

Yes Yes, my mistake. I could have sworn one of the players last names from this issue was Wood. I guess I just figured it was Joe Wood since it sold for so much. |

I sold that Hutchinson PC on ebay. I think someone got a good deal on it, considering how popular his cards are. |

Wish I had bid harder on your auction, Barry, but I think I was in the middle of one my occasional "spending too much money on baseball cards" lapses into frugality. |

I believe there is a photo of Wood playing for a town team in Ouray, Colorado when he was 14 or 15 around 1903 or 1904. He lived in Ouray for a few years beginning in the spring of 1899 when he was 9 years old until he was 16 when his family moved back to Kansas. |
