This card just ended on ebay. Unfortunately too rich for my blood right now. I've never seen another. An awesome card. Does anyone have any insight to this issue? |

If this style of portrayal even attempted to depict an identified player, I think they would draw more serious bidding. |

I bid on that, but I didn't think it would go that high. |

I noticed Lew Lipset was bidding on it. I wonder how much the card would have gone for if posted in the prewar category. |

The National League Chew has always been considered among the finest and rarest baseball trade cards, perhaps second only to the Darktown Battery trade card. The N.L Chew is scarce, it has exceptional graphics, and is one of the few that portrays a serious ballplayer. The majority of baseball trade cards depict comic scenes, exaggerated head sizes, or other types of caricature. The National League Chew is a gem among trade card collectors; I have only owned a single copy myself. |

Thanks Barry, Is the Darktown card you spoke of the one that depictes the mechanical bank? I don't suppose you have an image of it do you? Thanks |

Yes, it is the color one that depicts the bank. I don't have a picture of it, but REA had one a couple of years back in one of their auctions. I forget which one. |
