I wanted to see if board members could give their opinion on acceptable sizes of some card issues. I realize they vary, but trying to get a range on cards that are not trimmed or graded |

my m101-6 range in width from 4 5/16" to a hair over 4 7/16", with a range in height of 6 13/32 to 6 1/2", so about 1/8" variance one way and a little less the other way. |

Here's a post from almost a year ago, where a good number of T206 sizes are presented. The data is like a histogram, but not in graphical form. |

Old cardboard lists all the cards you have mentioned and their sizes. Go to gallery and pick a set...it's in the info on set. |

dimensions in the Standard Catalogue (and elsewhere)--I think what he wanted is provided by the poster with the link: a list of actual measurements which he personally finds acceptable (no trimming) within a given set. |

Is it ok to assume that the major grading companies will accept these variations in size as common to the issues or do they have their own max/min dimensions that come into play (short of actual clear signs of trimming)?? Does anyone know? |

It's a crapshoot if a card measures slightly below accepted standards. Sometimes they grade it, other times they kick it back. And sometimes a card that is rejected for being too small can get resubmitted and come back the second time in a holder. At some level it's just a game of outmaneuvering the graders. |

Hey, why didn't anybody ever tell me that old judges come in different sizes? | Archive | Net54baseball Vintage (WWII & Older) Baseball Cards & New Member Introductions | 5 | 10-02-2001 04:05 PM |
