Default Is "found A Better Price" grounds to cancel a sale / purchase?

I had an item on ebay auction in which someone bid on and won a few days later. The item was a 1977 Star Wars unopened wax Fun Bag pack. He won the auction with the only bid of $129.00. Two days later he wants me to cancel the sale because "He found a better Price" I see these packs on sale for $175.00 and up so I really do not think he found a better price.

To avoid any hassles that may arise......claiming I sent him an empty box or something, I am going to cancel the sale but what do you guys think?

Should I cancel? Is this a legitimate reason?

Thanks,
Bob

I would just cancel the sale and avoid any potential problems.

If this is how things are done today, glad I don’t use EBay anymore. Truly sad!

I wouldn't cancel, but let it sit there and time out so he gets a non-paying buyer strike against him (for whatever that's worth). That should happen in 4 days normally.

I would just say, "if you can't pay it will cancel itself after a few days".

Actually, after 4 days a "non-payment" option will be there if you go to cancel the sale. It won't be there before then. I would wait for that.

On a related note, but as a buyer, I had a weird experience recently on eBay. I had a best offer accepted and was asked to pay -- but the prompt to "pay now" was accompanied by a message saying that someone else could take the item if they paid first. And that's exactly what ended up happening.

Never seen that before.
