Default 1948 Blue Tint Question

I recently bought a collection and it had several 1948 Blue Tint strip cards. What a crazy odd set. Nobody knows who made them and there’s some variations that are too rare to price. I have one of those. I have a PSA 1 Ted Williams card #44 missing the card number. PSA only has graded 5 ever In its history without the number. Mine is pop 1 with 4 higher. I’ve asked several vintage guys and they all said the same thing. It’s too rare to price. I’m really at a loss on this one. There’s 2 regular Teds “listed” not sold and they are asking 1300 and 1000 for authentic grades with the number on them. If you have any ideas what it might be worth I’d appreciate it.

“Too rare to price” is not equal to “high price”. Demand will determine that. So what you need to see is how much demand there is for something like this. An auction with no minimum bid would probably be the quickest way to find out. Congrats on your variation!

I spent a decade+ looking a 1930 Baguer Chocolate card of Cliff Heathcote that wasn't severely beat up or missing paper. PSA has graded 3, highest a PSA 2. SGC has graded 1.

I paid $30 for one of the PSA 2's that got put up for sale.

Very rare, not very valuable.

Didn’t mean to come across like I won the lottery fellas. . I was thinking $1k maybe? That’s just a guess. Could be way more or way less

It's hard to value anything rare that hasn't sold in the past year or so. The entire vintage market has escalated even if it's cooled in some areas.

Getting a gauge on the current value of a 54 Ernie Banks or a 33 Goudey Ruth in any almost any condition except the best is easy, but you got a rare card of a highly collected player in a still hot vintage market.

If you find the right eyeballs with the right wallets in the right place and time things can get fun. You never know when you're going to luck into a weird bidding war as a seller.

There's also one with number that sold on ebay for a 450 buy it now. I agree that a low starting bid auction would get a true value, but do it somewhere where it would get a lot of eyeballs. If you try to list it yourself it might end up cheap, but somebody who has a good following might get a lot more. All it takes is 2 people who want it.
