Default National Chicle football premiums

Just picked up what apparently is an R311-2 National Chicle football premium of the 1935 NFL Pittsburgh Pirates. It was listed as just a 6"x8" team photo. I’m not too familiar with them but they seem to be somewhat scarce. Anybody very familiar with these and their scarcity? How about scarcity of this particular team image?

No replies - so it must be either incredibly, incredibly rare or else it is of the "nobody cares" class. I suspect it's the later, lol. Anyway, here's a soft bump in case somebody with a little knowledge about them happens by.

I don't have any, but I've seen them for sale. Here are a couple of links...

Ah, I had seen that first site but not the second. Good info on there. Thank you!

I know a lot about this set. If you had posted it in the football forum on this site you would have gotten lots of responses. That's where all the football collectors hang out, not up here in baseball land ;-)

The set is fairly difficult to put together but certainly not impossible. Most of them go for between $100-$250 with a few more commons going for less and a few that are very difficult and can run up to $500+

There is a complete set of these for sale on ebay if you want to check it out.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1935-Nation...gAAOSwLVFbnVli

This set was purchased from an auction house for $3,100 so somebody is trying to flip this set for about twice what it goes for at auction. Needless to say it has been sitting on ebay for quite some time now at that price.

The Pittsburgh Pirates premium is a bit on the tougher side compared to others in the middle.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info Jeff! I do sometimes forget about the football button. I need to visit it more often.

Jeff - I recall you started a Vintage Football Community site. I haven’t made it over there but I’ll still give it a shout out here and ask how it’s going?

Going extremely well! It's a private board so you can't just go there without signing up as a member. We have almost 100 members and talk football 24x7! Had a meetup at the National last year, did Secret Santa and Fantasy Football this year too. Recently added a B/S/T. We are averaging 49,000 pages view a month and usually get between 60-80 new threads started each month.

All good and thanks for asking.
