Vintage Yale & Harvard Football Trophies
Hey all,
A couple of early football items of interest I thought I'd share: A few months ago I was able to view an incredibly rare, early football trophy cup in a private collection purported to be from the very first rugby-style football game in the U.S., the Harvard-McGill College game in 1874. After acquiring it, cleaning it up and researching it I discovered that it was awarded to Charles Dupee in 1899 for winning Yale University's punting competition, which was held each spring between players vying to make the varsity team.
