Late 1800s tintype - Baseball Game in Action

This has probably been shown on this board several years ago but I just picked it up. The reason I say it was probably shown is a forum search brought up a baseball game in-action tintype but not picture. In my years of looking I haven't seen very many of these in-action type of tintypes...if any others...it is about 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches

VERY cool. I do remember this image because we talked about how HUGE that catcher must have been. Certainly not many staged action-shot tintypes out there.

Game action images are by far the most difficult to find in any form of 19th century photography.

I didn't realize that the distance between the mound and the plate was only 8 feet in those days

I know what you mean. I'm hoping the photographer was taking artistic license with the distances in order to get everyone in the photo.

Cool image, 7th spectator from the left resembles Connie Mack, but that guy is probably too old.
