I have tapered my collecting back to a very small 5-card want list of primarily T207's. T206's are so abundant that I find issues with pricing and I am a little wore out on the over analyzation of the backs(dots, hairs, shades, etc.). My quest has led me to the T207 set because of it's scarcity, reasonable affordability and honestly, the visual appeal. They have really grown on me and I like the fact that they are very much a card with player bios instead of just an advertisement(T206).
Here is a recent pickup of a miscut and one of my favorite examples just to get an image rich thread started and with any luck my T207 Saier arrives in the mail today. Will post that pic once it's in hand. Please share your favorite cards and any input or comments you have on the Brown Background set.

Hi Eric
The back bio's do add a nice flavor to the set. There are lots of collectors of T207s but not to the extent of the white borders... The errors are often overlooked too. This Bressy was bought from an experienced board member and he didn't even know it had a double image on it. ![]() ![]()

I love the Barry. Not too often will you find a horizontal full body image. I recently acquired mine and haven't scanned my own image yet, so here is the one from the auction listing.
And since you mentioned the backs I like this back, no one would use this wording on a newer card "Woodburn is prone to wildness and on that account has been retarded in his development." ![]()

Anyone have a Red Dooin with a Cycle back they can post an image of? Red in the name, Red hair, red lips, red emblem and red back. A true red quintfecta.
Leon - I need the Tinker. Want some T206's in trade for it ![]()

That is not a possible back for Dooin. He is in the Recruit back series.

I just finished my 18-card T207 Red Sox team set. This was a real challenge - the Red Sox might be the toughest team in the set to complete...many of the cards are very tough, including Bushelman and Hageman (my understanding is that Hageman's scarcity is made worse by a member of the Hageman family hoarding many examples of this tough card).
Even the Speaker and Hooper cards are tough from the set, and therefore relatively expensive.

The Cubs are fairly simple outside of the Saier and Miller so I agree that your Sox set is more challenging. I am just now reading the research done on this set and from what I have gathered, it is extremely tough.

And although there are proportionately very few HOFers in the set, there are some very nice images...I really like the Max Carey:

Does that mean no Red Cross either? Is Dooin a terminal quadfecta of red?

Yes - there is definitely an element of difficulty that comes from what you want to pay for the grade (I had a couple opportunities to knock off the last few toughies, but for a price higher than I wanted to spring, so I waited...for several years... ![]() Even several of the less-talked-about Red Sox commons are tough in this set - like Thomas, Engle, and Carrigan. And other tough/expensive cards are Joe Wood and Eddie Cicotte:

The Tris Speaker is my favorite. This one came from a board member.
I too love the bios (although Tris' bio says he bats righthanded) |

I sold my T207s a while back, but Mike Simon has always been my favorite image in the set. I'd like to have some pajamas that match his uniform.

Just missing Ward Miller for a complete set of T207 Cubs. All of mine are recruit backs with the exception of Vic Saier who has the anonymous back. All are in a frame except Saier who I recently picked up in August. Sharp set in my opinion.

Here are some pages from the T207 book I wrote around the same time as the Monster. Thought you'd enjoy. The Red Cross back should be familiar to all board members. I can't seem to figure out how to attach images. Any help?

Very nice. My chance at a Miller is coming soon but I think there will be heated competition for it.

I just kind of stumbled into my Miller recently. Wasn't cheap but the price was fair. There is a red Cycle Miller coming up in March. Also a nice Saier if I start collecting T207 Cubs backs.

I have a complete set, less the Lewis No Emblem, It became a passion after finishing my first T206 set. Some of the cards almost appear mystical, but the back variations of the Broadleaf class are quite interesting to some collectors.
Here are a few.img3496.jpg img3499.jpg img3503.jpg img3504.jpg img3680.jpg img3681.jpg img3426.jpg img3427.jpg |

Mike, Thanks, when I posted this I thought it was a live thread, but then later learned it was an old one reignited.img3714.jpg
img3715.jpg I love the use of "maskman" on the back of the card. |

This is a very enjoyable thread. kmac32's frame display is very nice. Tao Moko's Saier was terrific to see. It was good to see all of the shown cards. I can remember when this issue was "shunned" by many collectors because they were considered just too unattractive. This thread shows that stance to be just short sighted.

I think I first noticed them when I read about the T207 in the old SCD by Keith Olbermann...about how these cards were not as popular and overlooked because of the lack of name HOF's and their haunting dark brown back grounds that gave the cards a sad look to them.... I think they are one of the coolest of the T Cards and am happy to own a few in my type collection....this Lowdermilk is an anonymous back..
