June 2011 pick up thread

OK I've gone a little wild so far this month.
I got these as part of a bigger deal.
I am pretty sure that these are Type 1 originals based on the stampings.

The first is a 1927 Charles Conlon Rogers Hornsby portrait.





Second is a 1946 of Jackie Robinson in the Montreal Royals Uniform.
The article talks about him playing inn Louisville in the Shaunessy playoffs. It also talks about Robinson being "the first negro ballplayer to participate in post season play in the history of organized professional baseball"

Though I'm not sure if I am going to be able to keep them.
I just got offered something even nicer, so I might have to sell these to raise money.
Too many things showing up at the same time. I guess it's a good problem to have.

The price was right, and the light on both of them is absolutely beautiful. I especially love the Henrich, with the sun sculpting his face. I might do paintings of these. Maybe. Definitely. I'm starting now.

I've ever owned a panoramic photo - and don't know how rare or common they are - but I do know I love this one - all 43 inches x 7 inches of it. Weekday Doubleheader - Red Sox vs. NY, packed house....
