Too funny. The seller just sent me a link to the damaged back of the card -- but didn't put the pic up or note my question on the listing. Pitiful.

If the guy sends a scan on request, I think you are being a bit harsh on him -- anyone knows from the grade it has a problem and can find out by asking.

I wonder if buying a card at auction then immediately listing the card for double on eBay ever worked.

I don't agree. If you post an expensive card like that on ebay with a clean front and don't post a picture of the back or even mention that the back has significant damage -- that's bad news. Why else would the seller not post a scan of the back but to mislead the potential buyer? He bought the card days ago and now wants to flip it for twice the price. He can do that, possibly, as long as he doesn't show the damaged back.

In addition: if he was honest, why not post my question on his listing? Clearly he wants this info about the back to not affect potential buyers.

The guy has no back scans on his numerous listings, just his MO. Fairly typical for ebay.

Jeff nobody who would spend 12K for that card is not going to understand there is probably an issue with the back.

We said the same thing on the Leaf Paige I referenced that he sold without a back scan for multiples of what it should have. Of course, it was back for sale a month after that; presumably the buyer got it in hand and saw the back...
Also, it could be a 20 due to a stray pencil mark on the back.

So freaking ASK the guy for a scan, geez. And if he won't provide one, don't bid. How hard is this?

This is 100% correct. I've been burned by this same scenario, but at least it was on a low end card. Lesson learned.

Sincerely, Clayton

Most likely an oversight at least not mentioning the back damage in the description. Also probably switched the Paige in the previous thread to BCCG because he liked the holder better.

Jeff - I've noticed a disturbing trend in your posts lately.

If I sell a $50 card I provide a scan of both the front and back. To not include a back scan on a 12.5K card (really a 6.5K card that magically doubled overnight), especially one with back damage, is clearly no accident.

Matt,
Give me a couple of days. It's a particularly virulent strain of cynicism.
