I'm all about the minors !

Especially the obscure stories that go with it. Here is a quote from the 1911 Asheville Gazette:

"“Sharp, that erstwhile Eastern Carolina Leaguer, whose smiling face appears on “Old Mill” cigarette pictures, sapped all the ginger from the Knoxville ball tossers at Riverside Park yesterday afternoon when in the eighth inning, with Landgraff on second and the score tied, he smashed the pill over the left field fence for a home run.”

Here is that smiling face on the Old Mill card when he played for Goldsboro:

Here are a few you don't see everyday...

1906 Memphis oversized PC:


1913 Oakland Oaks Issue (thought to have been produced by the Cardinet Candy Co. who would produce the Texas Tommy cards the next year--they were a California company)...


1921 Frederick Fotos, amongst others is Hick Cady with the Joplin, MO team (don't remember ever seeing another card of a Joplin player in any set...ever!)

Included in the picture are Major Leaguers Cy Alberts and George"Rabbit" Nill.
There is a W600 of Nill up in the latest Mile High Auction.
