Ben, you beat me out on that Gehrig 26 Bain photo. I wasnt the direct underbidder but I was going for it for a while. It is a REAL BEAUTY! Maybe the best Gehrig I have ever seen! Congrats!

Struck out across the board, Jimmy - too rich for me!
Great pickups - glad you got what you wanted. Those 2 Gehrigs are beautiful. |

Rhys,
Thank you...I was actually expecting to pay much more than I did. I am surprised there were not more bids above 1k. Maybe there were but sniped didn't take as it went from 500-2500 right at the end with two bids. In any case, I am happy to win it and I agree with you(maybe the nicest image I have ever seen of Gehrig-haunting). Very honored to have it in my collection. It goes perfectly with my Ruth. ![]() Ben

Lots of people think the archives coming up for sale will devalue original SPorts photographs. I comepletely disagree. Before 2000 original photos were so hard to find that only a few people collected them. WIth the availability in the last decade of the newspapers and photo archives making their photos available to the public, new collectors have the opportunity to buy these rare items and I think the market for these with be strong no matter how many photos hit the market. Just My Opinion.

My favorite was the Babe Ruth Boston photo labeled as 1910's but I believe it is actually from 1914 his Rookie season. I think that someone got a very good deal at $2,700+ as I could not afford to go above $2K after all of my spending recently at the National, etc.
Also liked the 1953 Kaline but fell short on that one also. Congrats to all the winners! |

I won the photo with Alexander in the House of David uniform. Won it for a fraction of what my snipe was set for, too. He had some great ones. Glad to see board members snatching them up. Pretty good bargains on a lot of them, I thought.
