The first truly LOL thread in awhile...applause!
But to be honest, while I do not think the item can be slabbed safely, I would like to submit that I think it bears a much stronger resemblance to Shoeless Joe than any Lajoie, Nap or otherwise. Perhaps we have the owner of the original photo as a member, so that an accurate comparison can be made to the historical event. By the way, I do own several examples of these Shoeless Joe toasts, including the finest extant, and it will be on sale within hours! Rob, congratulations on becoming the Penultimate collector of Nap Lajoie during the course of this thread! That is awesome. Please reserve enough time this evening to sitting in your room talking amongst yourselves as to what the best way to display the rarest of items might be...

From a 1936 news clipping I picked up yesterday inside a composition book filled with boxing clippings (primarily of Joe Louis):

Rob: You can have these for nothing. Sorry they are not ultra high grade. I hope they are worthy of your distinguished collection.
I am humbled just to live on the same planet. ![]() ![]() |

Rob,
Time for a road trip to David's favorite restaurant! (I believe that's him in the blue jacket and white baseball cap!)
