Thank you so much Ted for posting those T206 Sovereign super prints. I just found in my box of T206's an Evers Chicago Sovereign 460 in a PSA 5.

Thanks TedZ, this is great information you have provided to us. I have been considering trying to put together the 6 Super Print Sovereign 460 cards as a project within trying to put together the T206 set, but it seems like they rarely become available. I have the Chase dark cap Sovereign 460 so far, so only 5 to go!!

You are in for quite a challenge. Especially, finding the Cobb. All the years that I've been collecting
T206's, I know of only 4 - Cobb's with the Sovereign 460 back. I have one, another Net54 member has one, one recently sold in auction, and one sold back in 1996. The Chase (dark cap) is most often seen. I did not have much difficulty getting Matty. Chase (blue) was tougher. And, Evers and Chance are seldom seen. So, I wish you lots of luck, if you choose this adventure. Regards, TED Z |

Thanks Ted. It sounds like the Cobb Sov.460 may turn it into a never ending journey.
But in the meantime, I will hope and pray that I stumble upon one at an estate sale somewhere ![]() Sincerely,Clayton |

I am sad to say that I only got $62 for my SOV 460 SGC 40 Chase Black. It was even money for me after a year, but was hoping for a good bit more (I replaced it with a Trophy Chase for that spot in the backs line). It was properly advertised, but not much action.
Thanks for all the great info Ted! Bob |

Regarding your......
" why were the sovereign 460 super-prints short-printed? " I cannot say for sure. However, these super-prints are fundamentally 350-only subjects by virtue of the fact that they are found with American Beauty 350 (frame) backs. Paradoxically, these six cards are also 460-only subjects, since they were printed with most of the 460 series backs. They have split personalities ![]() Now, onward to your 2nd question...... " how much is actually known about the print process of this specific group? " I can date the 460 series printing of this set to as early as the Spring/Summer of 1910 due to the fact that Frank Smith (traded to Boston, Aug 1910) and Red Kleinow (traded to Boston, June 1910) are not depicted in the 460 series of the Sovereign set. Both of these guys' cards reflect their trades to Boston with all the other 460 series T-brands (indicating that those print runs occurred later than the Summer of 1910). Considering this....perhaps these super-prints were printed at the very tail end of the Sovereign 460 press run, and therefore received very limited printing. TED Z |
