Very nice...Rolph was Mayor from 1912 until January 1931 when he became Governor of California. He died he in the summer of 1934 after several heart attacks...so your photo dates to 1930 or earlier if he was indeed the active mayor at the time.

Haven't posted any new pickups in a while, so here goes...
1. Comical Italian Baseball Figural Players (idiotic looking but also endearing, and impossible to find in this MINT Condition) 2. Johnny Bench 1970 Lithograph by LeRoy Neiman 3. Baseball Player Original Sculpture by celebrated Mexican artist Manuel Felguerez 4. Golfer Original Sculpture by Felguerez 5. 1940 Cincinnati Reds Jacket worn by either Jimmy Wilson or Hank Gowdy (both wore #2 during that time frame) |

Also wanted to post this beautiful piece from REA. I kept the Athletics Sign for myself, but wanted to post pics of this Giants Sign before having to part with it (it has been sold to a fellow Net54 Member...)
This Giants Ad Sign features some amazing Carl Horner Portraits, including Matty. McGraw, Marquard, Snodgrass, Merkle and Meyers. Great D&M Lucky Dog Mascot and long-forgotten team logos as well... Last edited by perezfan; 05-19-2010 at 03:48 PM. |

Great pickups Mark! The Reds jacket is killer and you're not kidding about those Italian figures being impossible to find in that kind of condition. Those things are normally wrecked! I've never seen any near the pristine condition of yours.

Yeah... I should have bought more in retrospect. There were about 8-9 of them (all MINT) on ebay recently. I just picked my 3 favorites, but now kinda regret not going after the whole group.

In the spirit of Jimmy's magnificent tie-in pieces, here is a neat little item I was thrilled to find... a newspaper ad from 1909, featuring this very game. Not many of these survived, but it looks like they did promote it pretty well a century or so ago...

This abused dog is still, a charmer. White tape is a repair by me. I hope to replace all the tape with acid-free.
