Mine showed the same $1000 and now it's down to $35... much more palatable. Now I just have to figure out how to scrape together some cash to pay for it all...

David, those are incredible pickups. It's uncanny, but in every auction we seem to have almost the identical taste in cards.
And PS, my birthday is next month. My favorite color is M110.

Jeff: A recurring nightmare I have is that I will finally go off my nut and murder one of the rectal orifices in my life, you will fly out to Honolulu to defend me but that it will cost me the '14 CJ Matty, the signed '34 Goudey Gehrig and the D304 Cobb. And that would just be your retainer.

+1 Great pickups David. Love the Cobb, and Kelly. I think you got the Connor for a steal especially compared to the Keefe |

Someone got a terrific deal on the E94 Speaker with Bloom overprinted back. I thought I had it for a steal but alas. Congrats to whomever won it. If the winner of the large T210 lot is thinking of breaking it up, please let me know and I might be able to help up recoup some of your investment on Series 3,5 and 6 cards.

As far as wins I didn't even win the 2 lots I wanted. Might have to do with the extremely low price my card sold for. As a matter a fact I was told by REA that they always got the best prices because they have buyers that wait all year to buy. Just my luck I declined a $9800 offer for it on Ebay to sell it for $5000 on REA because they are the best.

What is the story behind the PSA 6 T210 Casey Stengel card?
In the October 2009 Heritage auction, the Stengel sold for $48,995. http://sports.ha.com/common/view_ite...=81006&src=pr# Last night in REA, the very same Stengel sold for $23,500. http://bid.robertedwardauctions.com/...x?itemid=13257 Looks like the winner got a very good deal last night on the Stengel, but the consignor lost more than half his money in six months. |

That really sucks about your card Andrew. My opinion on REA's auction is that there were so many lots and because it's only a once a year gig.....some cards get overshadowed. That T210 Stengel card's price was way low in my opinion. the buyer of that card got a true deal. I also think the buyer of the two large N172 lots got good deals there too. I wonder how many bidders participated this time around ?

Major HOF'ers T206 in PSA 5 & 6 had some very high final prices.
with buyers premium: Cobb - red PSA 5 - $3,525. ............way over SMR Cobb - bat on PSA 5 - $3,525. ...........over SMR W.Johnson - hands chest PSA 5 - 1,880. .........over SMR Cobb - green PSA 5 - $6,462. ............way over SMR Cobb - green PSA 6 - $14,100. ...........way over SMR Matty - portrait PSA 6 - $3,525. Cy Young - portrait PSA 5 - $3,819. ........super way much over SMR Matty - dark cap PSA 6 - $3,525. ..........way over SMR Three weeks ago I had listed on ebay a T206 Cobb green PSA 5 (outstanding centering) listed for $5,200. - nobody bought - scratch head - then this Cobb green PSA 5 goes for nearly $6,500. hmmm. And that Cy Young portrait PSA 5 at over $3,800. - WOW !!! steve |

I was absolutely thrilled to win lot #1150 - the 1867 Bernards Base Ball Club of Basking Ridge, NJ Scorebook.
It's an absolutely amazing look into the history of baseball in New Jersey, IMO, and an incredible piece that's traveled more than a century through the State's baseball culture, includes game scores from 1867 through 1980, a number of great autographs, and a bunch of news clippings that chronicle the journey that this book has taken throughout the years. Given the Elysian Fields game happened in 1846 and this book is from 1867, I can't imagine that there are many surviving pieces of NJ baseball memorabilia that are older than this one. Best part: I won it for the opening bid. ![]() -Al |

I appreciate the honest input. At a total of $2925 for this lot #635, I figured based on current eBay prices that this price was about the same as the eBay auction value of each of these cards. Maybe I overestimated eBay prices by some. These were all cards I wanted, so I did save some time by snagging the whole lot. I knew I wasn't getting a deal, but 'm okay with the price.

Yes. There are 2 green type 2's known and 1 type 2 orange. (All type 2's only come in green or orange, as you know)....that red is awesome.

I have to agree with the other consignor regarding disappointing results. Consigned a 1/1 33 goudey (highest graded) that ended way below my expectations ($3,550 or so with the premium). Rob has great stuff but the catalog is so massive items do get overshadowed. In a smaller boutique auction house a similar card recently hit $7,000 with the premium. Another consignment also fell relatively flat. I usually pick Robert Edwards because it is in my backyard plus I can view every item. A couple of years back I gave them a Ruth signed photo which did okay but would have done much better if not for the exact same shot signed by Ruth included in the same auction. I did pick up the t207 SGC 60 Walter Johnson and the E120 Cobb. I think they were relatively fair deals.

Joe D would know this better than I do, but all of the type-setting and layout for this would have been done strictly by hand and that might account for differences in variations of the margins. I know years ago, the department store I worked for still set up and pasted up, all our ads in house. If a copy block and/or photo slipped while being transported to the newspaper, well, they printed it that way. (Tim - Better?)

Brian - you can probably post that Obaks sheet as much as you want. I can't imagine I'd ever get tired of seeing it.
I think next year I need to go into REA with a bit more of a plan - some specific target items ahead of time and then a large group of fall-back items. Usually I just bid on things I like in general and see what happens in Extended Time. J |
