I was surprised at the small difference between the two Thorpes as well. I'd pay the extra 4K for the nicer one myself, but me and my trading partner hadn't bid on it before the close of initial bidding. I assumed the difference would be much, much bigger.

By the way, I'd just like to give a public thank you to Brian Terjung, who bought the card and will be sending it my way in a trade.

I don't have one single favorite card in my collection - it'd be like having ten great kids and loving one more than the rest, no can do - and, besides, if I show the autographed Goudey Gehrig one more time I'm afraid you'd lock me in a cell with Bruce and Chicago, so instead I'll post a couple of favorites from other's collections.

Very nice Thorpe, Paul, and a great card to start off another one of these
favorite card threads (they never get old, in my opinion).

Here's my current favorite -- a 1914 CJ Cobb, which sits in an SGC 40 holder.

Thanks, guys! The caramel corn background was inspired a little bit by a Mile High
auction catalog from a few years ago, which you may have seen.

(also diggin' the Voskamp's Wagner, as well as the Fleischmann's.
Coffee, cake, and Honus Wagner. Nice....)

Default I only have a few cards in my collection...

as I bought them as companion pieces for the corresponding TYPE I photographs. But this Speaker is clearly my favorite.

Default Hard to choose...

...but I always think of this one, when asked. For me, the signature is so vibrant that I feel like I can actually hear Wheat's pen rolling as it drew his name on the surface.
