Your favorite card in your collection
1 Attachment(s)
Do you have one card that stands head and shoulders above all others in your collection? I've been collecting since 1970, and until now, I never really did. I have a lot of cards that I love, but none that stood out above the rest. Until now.
Many, many thanks to a fellow board member who bid on this in REA last night so that he could trade it to me. I couldn't have done it without him. |
Paul - congrats on the pickup - it was interesting to see the SGC 10 go for $8k and the SGC 80 go for $12k.
|
This is my favorite - N321 S.F. Hess California League.

Paul- congrats on the pickup. I always thought that pose/card of Thorpe was one of the best. Since I picked this one up I like it too.....I don't know if it's my absolute favorite (there are too many) but it's one I really like. best regards (sorry for the other scans, the Matty ain't too bad either)

Favorite Card

Recently posted this in the "show me your steals" thread as well, but it is my favorite piece to date.

Great Thorpe Paul!
|
Great pickup Paul! Scarce card of one of the greatest athletes ever. The card also has eye appeal well in excess of the grade.
|
I was surprised at the small difference between the two Thorpes as well. I'd pay the extra 4K for the nicer one myself, but me and my trading partner hadn't bid on it before the close of initial bidding. I assumed the difference would be much, much bigger.
By the way, I'd just like to give a public thank you to Brian Terjung, who bought the card and will be sending it my way in a trade. |

I like this one because EPDGs are my favorite back and this is one of my favorite t206 fronts.
|
I don't have one single favorite card in my collection - it'd be like having ten great kids and loving one more than the rest, no can do - and, besides, if I show the autographed Goudey Gehrig one more time I'm afraid you'd lock me in a cell with Bruce and Chicago, so instead I'll post a couple of favorites from other's collections.

Me too! More days than not this is my favorite. http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...lankRosePC.jpg |

nice Wags Joe...

Very nice Thorpe, Paul, and a great card to start off another one of these
favorite card threads (they never get old, in my opinion). Here's my current favorite -- a 1914 CJ Cobb, which sits in an SGC 40 holder. http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/8623/cjcobb.jpg |
CW nice card. Love the Crackerjack background wallpaper.....
|
Nice Voskamp Wagner, Jeff!
I too dig the CJ background! |
Thanks, guys! The caramel corn background was inspired a little bit by a Mile High
auction catalog from a few years ago, which you may have seen. (also diggin' the Voskamp's Wagner, as well as the Fleischmann's. Coffee, cake, and Honus Wagner. Nice....) |
David, used to own that very Cobb! Hope you're enjoying it as much as I did!

hard to pick a fav, but liking Jimmy's last one so much, i will say
my T206 tannehill(no L.) framed along with my Type 1 Conlon Tannehill which is the basis for the T206. also love my unopened Polar Bear package with the 1910 stamp. best, barry |
Hard to choose...
...but I always think of this one, when asked. For me, the signature is so vibrant that I feel like I can actually hear Wheat's pen rolling as it drew his name on the surface.

Mine would be my T3 Cobb.
Favorite card I don't own is the T202 Ty Cobb Steals Third, autographed by Cobb. That is just one absolutely incredible card!!!!! Steve |
