Requiem for a Ballpark
The best memories of my youth occurred sitting beneath that steel. Who ever thought that Yankee Stadium would cease to stand? Call me a romantic but I had always assumed it would go to slow rot like the Coliseum in Rome. I wish they had left the place alone in '73; that was bad enough. And now the remnant in your back yard, David, is a gutwrenching sight for me but at least the ghosts will have a relic to inhabit.

In that wire photo are the people sitting in plain old seats or are they stadium seats.

The first few rows of the upper deck have "box chairs," the same free-standing chairs that can be seen in early photos of the first rows of the lower stands.
I completely agree with you, David. The demolition is a crime.
