I was torn between posting these in the July pickups thread, starting an August pickups thread early or starting a thread just for National pickups. Because the July thread already is long and not wanting to deprive Bob of starting the August thread later today, I went with option No.3.
Finally picking up an E101 Lajoie, despite the poor condition, would have made the show a success for me on its own. Landing a Baltimore Newsboy Lajoie was way beyond my expectations. Editorial: There's so much to be said for being able to hold a card in your hand, look the seller in the eye and negotiate a price that's void of a buyer's penalty and shipping and "handling" costs. Plus, you're not worried about being shilled or losing out on a card "selling" to another "bidder," then seeing the same card turn up for sale on the auction house's table or in another of its auctions down the line. Definitely a good time in Cleveland. Last edited by Rob D.; 07-30-2009 at 01:36 PM. |
