Does anyone know how hard it is to find a 7/4/39 ticket for Gehrig's speech? Also, was there one or two tickets that day since there was a double header?
Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
This is very tough...been looking for a long time for this ticket...when one comes up..it will be some big bucks; 4 figs and up depeding on condition(2 in psa pop report one being autographed). Which means...I most likely will never get one which makes me want to cry and eat smashed bananas. I hope this helps.
Ben

There was only one ticket. In those days, "doubleheader" meant two games for the price of one. Ahhh, the naivete.

It will be very difficult to find one. In my 45 years of collecting, I have seen three, and managed to snag one. (A new book, "Cooperstown Confidential," by Bruce Markusen, reports that Steve Verkman recently sold one for $22,000. I find that a bit hard to believe.)

Here's mine:

I really love that one David. I read the book a couple of months ago. An entertaining read. I also agree with you regarding the sell price of $22,000.

Back to the ticket, one of my closest friends bought this one at the beginning of December for $10,000 so that would put the count at four...

Just think how many scrapbooks are out there with the ticket glued in it and the people not knowing what it's worth.

Wow...if they're going for that much, I'd say I'll have to pass on it due to the number of things I could add to my collection for that amount of money.
Maybe someday.
