I never have ended an auction early when there are bidders and I have never asked someone to end an auction early when there are bidders. I have ended auctions early when there weren't any bidders because I was happy with the offer.

It sucks because I was going to pay good money for that card. I would have made an offer for it here, but when I saw it on ebay I figured it would be there for the duration of the auction. If I ended auctions early, I would be made to answer crappy emails from disgruntled bidders all day, probably losing customers along the way.

Just my 2 cents....
If it were a tough card I could understand being upset, but this is a frequently sold card in a common grade. I personally would let it go and move on. It's definitely not worth trashing another board member IMO. Last edited by Abravefan11; 01-20-2010 at 09:46 PM. |

is this the same seller that put t206 cards into topps 'buyback' cases and sell them as such? the board has gotten so big, just because they're a member don't mean they're good people.

In response to Scott L., Larry's card stopped being Larry's card the minute it got it's first bid on ebay.

I would think it stops being his card the minute he gets paid for it.

I disagree. When a bid is placed on a card, the seller has lost all rights to that card unless there is a reserve price on it, that's how I see it.
Update: Just talked to Larry and he said he has more available. I consider him a stand-up guy for letting me know. Last edited by jb217676; 01-20-2010 at 11:29 PM. Reason: Talked to Larry |

As a buyer on e-bay, I have asked numerous times to end an auction early for a scarce item and have been turned down every time. Now I really don't bother asking any more.

I'm hoping that you made this post when you were in an emotional state over not getting a card you wanted, because it might be the most ridiculous thing I've read in quite some time.

Personally...I HATE it when people end auctions early...but even worse...is when someone writes the seller asking if there is a BIN price...well...if there were a BIN price...wouldn't you see it? Auction, by definition, implies an item being sold to the highest bidder...right?
