Tony- I know the idea of fighting over the use of the quote function seems trivial, but this is about more than that. It's really about class warfare...the dinosaurs against the younger and more computer literate crowd. Class struggles are always worth debating. (okay, I used my sarcasm button this time).

I understand and completely agree with the original intent of this thread that scans and uploaded images shouldn't be included in quotes as it is redundant.

However I like being able to quote text and think it is useful in letting everyone know who my post is directed at if it is one persons thoughts in particular I am addressing.

Since the software does a great job of differentiating a quote from new text I don't see why those that don't like them can't simply skip over them.

Barry. Maybe that's why it struck me as silly. I'm an in betweener at 43.

Barry - you're ability to use this forum successfully automatically eliminates you from the pool of real technology dinosaurs; I know folks far more "dinosaury" then you in that regard.
