Been just over a year since the last post here.
I picked up a few neat snapshots in that time, like this nice 4x5 snapshot of The Splendid Splinter from 1940... TedWilliamsSnapshot.jpg |

Don't have many at all but did pick up a few from a fellow Board member last year of various Yankees and common folk at 1927 spring training. Yanks are Durocher, Lazzeri and Bengough.

Hugh Jennings had a sad end. He had a nervous breakdown at the end of the 1925 season and was unable to return to his job as John McGraw's assistant manager for 1926. He was institutionalized in a sanitarium in South Carolina and never went back to baseball after he got out. Here is a snapshot of Jack Dempsey visiting with Jennings at the sanitarium:
![]() More cheerful, here is a snapshot of Jim Jeffries' Barn in Burbank, CA, which was a training facility and boxing venue that Jeff operated until he died: ![]() And here are three snapshots of Joe Louis while training for Max Baer: ![]() ![]() ![]()

I love those snapshots! Let's keep 'em coming ... Here's a few Boys of Summer (Pee Wee Reese, Pete Reiser & Billy Herman), plus Gashouse Gang great Pepper Martin and Willard Hershberger, the Reds catcher who took his sadly life during the '39 pennant race. All of these, as well as a number of others displayed in this thread, come from the same group of images captured by a Forbes Field usher in the late 30s and early 40s. That era seemed to be the Golden Age of snapshots ...

And here's a few more, including PCL great Tony Freitas (pictured with the Reds in '37 at Crosley Field), Johnny Mize, Lon Warnecke, Howie Pollet and Gabby Hartnett ...
