Hey Leon,
I saw that Ruth too, but never with the $350 buy it now. It never would have lasted another day with a BIN that low. Great pickup. As for the other CA Briggs cards, there is a football card in the set that shows a player punting the ball. Some people think it resembles Red Grange. Sadly, the back of the card does not refer to Grange, like the Ruth card mentions him. Way to save yourself $2k and get a nicer condition card. -Kyle |

Nice card Leon. I rarely see the other cards from that series and know a few board members who have some. That Ruth in sloate looks familiar.
BTW- I received the card in the mail. Please let me know if you received your package. Toby Last edited by bigfish; 12-20-2009 at 12:16 PM. |

Hi Leon---congrats on that very nice Ruth--in that condition I thought it was a great bargain pickup---I only have a few of the "major" sports from this Briggs set, but it's still one of my favorite sets

Thanks for sharing this story Leon, and congrats on your new card!!This is a set I know nothing about, and now I will research into it(just for knowledge-I have too many other hopeful projects I'm "thinking about").It is a beautiful card, and Ruth is always a winner to add to any collection.Great score!!!

Was the card cataloged by Burdick, such as r337?

Only the E97 Briggs cards are cataloged. The CA Briggs, 1933 sports set is not, or not that I am aware of.
