Gil, if you have the time, check the history of Long Island a bit more carefully. I live in Nassau County. My town...Manhasset...was founded in 1680. Our town was one of several on Long Island which broke from the Tory Township of Hempstead in 1777 and supported the American Revolution. If not for Manhasset's sacrifices, you might be a subject of the Queen today. |
