Anyone Heard These Stories?

The way I heard the Hall of Fame story was that a sizeable number of signed photos were stolen. Three different people that I know personally, they all verified this independent of each other, bought photos with white out on the back from the same person. They removed the white out and underneath was printed "Property of Baseball Hall of Fame, Cooperstown" or something like that.
