I'm going to stretch the limits for "pre-war" pick ups here...

Leon,

Silly question here so forgive me, but how was it checklisted if it’s never been seen before. I’m unfamiliar with that set.

I don’t think it’s ever been seen. Plenty of cards are known to be in a set but never seen (for example, Plow Candy Hal Chase to my chagrin). This is actually a huge pickup.

Finished one of my favorite 1950s sets by picking up Kell's Red Sox team variation at the National. Backs show an expiration date a full year after after the trade in question.

"May 23, 1954: Traded by the Boston Red Sox to the Chicago White Sox for Grady Hatton and $100,000."

Very nice Chris. A toughie because Doyle was traded from the Cubs during the 1917 off season so was likely pulled from further printing after that initial year. First one I've ever seen. Congrats.

great pickups all, that Mathewson AB is something else, and the game 8, such a boss ticket Ryan.

Does anyone know about these gray background 49 bowmans? Was able to come across a few auctions for raw lots, but haven't seen one graded.

I am thrilled that these have arrived from Love of the Game. I've been searching for the Hage's Vaughan for longer than I can remember. I've only seen one before, and it was in terrible shape. And I really like the sharpness of the image on the Old Judge Dave Orr, together with the Columbus major league team designation.

That E95 Wagner caramel IS a huge card!

Saw one at the WCCS (Anaheim) the other day (a NY dealer had it), but the near $20k price tag was out of my range.

Cool add to the Barney Pelty collection. A 1908 St. Louis Browns panoramic postcard from the Rube Waddell estate. Has Rube, Barney and Bobby Wallace among others.

The postmark was the day after Pelty and Addie Joss faced off in St Louis.

Another color run pickup for the W511, for the first card in brown. However, it could just be a faded purple and a duplicate of the third card...

Default Late 60s Topps Wax Display Boxes Full Of Cards

Picked up a collection from a gentleman who purchased a house full of boxes in the basement. Included in one box were all these Topps Baseball and Football display boxes from 1960s and 70s. There were no wax packs but each box was full of cards! Highlights include a near set of 1969 Topps baseball, with Mantle Ryan, Bench, Jackson RC. Also included were a handful of white letter variations in excellent condition. The nicest of the bunch is the Gaylord Perry.
