Hi i'm going to be attending the Strongsville show Friday and saturday morning and wanted to see if any other Net54'ers will be there since its a large vintage show.
For those of you who have gone, and are going what are your expectations price and selection wise? From what i gathered there will be every type of vintage card under the sun there, but prices will likely be higher because so many people fly in for the show. Please let me know your thoughts, thanks! |

Living in CA, the drive is a bit too far for me, but if any dealers have m113 or m114 posters and anybody has the time to pass on their email or website info to me, I would appreciate it.

I'll be there all day Saturday. I've gone for years. Pretty much anything vintage you are looking for. Prices never felt higher than other show prices. Most stickers are high, but some deals to be had, too.

I attended my first Strongsville show last year and had a blast. I thought the pricing was, for the most part, reasonable compared to the shows I frequent in Michigan. Like you said, expect a very wide selection. I ended up purchasing two cards (a 1938 Goudey DiMaggio and a 1954 Topps Kaline) and trading for two cards (an E95 Christy and a 1954 Topps Aaron). Can't wait to go back again this year.

Going for Friday only.
Making the drive early Friday morning and will be there until closing time. Attended the show for the first time last year, Friday only, and enjoyed every minute spent there. Well worth the time as I enjoy collecting cards from prewar though 1970s cards and was told this is the show you have to attend. Going to look for unique Detroit Tigers related items, along with a few cards need for a few sets to complete. Bringing a few cards to submit to SGC as well. Looking forward to Friday. Please stop by and either say hello or introduce yourself if we haven't met. I'm also excited to be cosponsoring the very first VINTAGE trade night being held on Saturday after the show including free pizza!
I am especially looking to buy good quality (either low grade, strong eye appeal or high grade strong eye appeal) hof cards. Paying between 80% and 85% of fair market value. Especially need Mantle, Clemente and Ruth cards. I will also be accepting select private consignments. Please contact me Monday- Wednesday or speak to me during the show to learn about an alternative way to sell you cards - offering the lowest sales commission of any method I know of (just 10% for cards $1K+ and only 7.5% for cards $10K+) The process also offers you 100% price control - no selling to the highest bidder.

I attended for the first time last year. As has been said about the National, don’t expect the show to have everything. It was slightly smaller than I was expecting, with the usual glut of 50s through 70s stuff. It’s a solid show, and certainly worth attending, but keep expectations reasonable. I definitely found my share of goodies, but I didn’t find it to be the mecca that some people make it out to be, and came home with cash in my pocket. Just my two cents…your mileage may vary.

Fellow hobbyists- I'm encouraged to read (most) of these messages, can't wait
to be there and interact with folks. Regarding expectations, I can't recall anyone stating "everything" will be at Strongsville (?), the statement is non sequitir. Vintage collectors from most sports would have to go out of their way to be dissatisfied with the quality of this show (and I'm not a dealer there and have no financial interest in the show itself). Enjoy, it is what card shows should be ![]() Trent King |

I will be setting up for the first time here. Will be bringing lots of “oddball” stuff with an emphasis on Mantle, Mays, Aaron & Clemente. Also, some obscure pre-war stuff for Foxx, Speaker, Hornsby, Sisler, Heilmann, etc. In addition, a nice selection of Negro/Winter League material from the 40’s - 70’s. Plus lots more obscure vintage baseball and autographs, too much to mention, along with iconic vintage basketball and hockey rookie cards. Looking to buy key pre-war rookies, Negro League material and PSA authenticated pre-war on-card autographs. Stop by and let’s buy/sell/trade together.

I attended the show today through the early admission option. My thoughts:
1) INCREDIBLE vintage and prewar card selection in multiple sports 2) More memorabilia than I recall in past shows 3) Dealers were willing to deal ![]() 4) SGC is there accepting submissions, as is JSA. I submitted to SGC and found the employees to be helpful. The process was quick too. 5) I came away with great stuff, including a grail card. If you can make it, go! Trent King |

I made the 3 1/2 hour drive over this morning for the noon opening and I stayed till 3.45 after finding some nice signed vintage cards, so it was worth the trip. I had last been to Strongsville about 15 years ago and it was mostly what I expected, except I thought it was supposed to be a vintage only show? I was really surprised to see a fair amount of modern 'shiny' stuff in several cases and I was even more surprised to see one dealer in the middle of the rink with a couple showcases full of only Pokemon. WTF? How did this guy get a table at this show?
Anyways, a good day overall and an easy drive both ways. Here's a couple of my pickups. |

My first time at Strongsville has been better than expected. I found the selection of vintage and pre-war items outstanding. I was able to pick up some key items for my PC, including some super nice pre-war items and Cuban baseball cards. Already making plans to return next year.

1) Everything in the showcases had to be vintage 2) No modern unopened could be available 3) There was not as many of sets featuring vintage players as there are today but you could bring in modern cards of vintage players in sets like the 1990's Topps Archives set. Regards Rich

Here are my thoughts on Strongsville. Excellent vintage show with just about anything you are looking for.
It was packed. They waited too long to expand locations, and they may need to expand again. Lots of cards moving, and set builders out in full force. Good variety of high end, mid end, and low end stuff. This take may not be popular, but I have a feeling some might complain about a bit more modern sneaking in this year. Heck, there was even a Pokemon table. But I thought it was the perfect amount of modern. Here's why. I've been coming to Strongsville for years. I have never seen so many kids. And not just kids drug there by their parents, but kids engaged in the vintage hobby. A lot of vintage dealers brought a modern value box or two to rifle through. And kids would look through those boxes, then begin looking at the vintage. I heard them asking questions. I saw fathers educating sons on players and cards of the past. The hobby was being passed down to the next generation in a way I haven't seen at other shows. I loved it. My wife noticed it and pointed it out. She saw a little boy digging in a vintage box who found a card he liked. He asked the dealer if it was a dollar. He was told it was $10. He didn't have the money. My wife overheard and bought it for him. This hobby is so great. ![]() My main pickup wasn't super expensive, but a rare one I've been looking for. It is especially hard to find in decent shape. 1967 Venezuela Dave Concepcion He was just a teenager in the Venezuelan Winter League, 4 years before his major league rookie card. Davey was my mom's favorite player, so this is a special card for my collection. This copy is really clean, and unlike many Venezuelans, it has no paper loss on the back at all. ![]() |

^^^^^ Nice card. I was a huge fan of the Big Red Machine when I was a kid, and of Concepcion in particular. Bench, Rose, Morgan & Foster used to get all the attention, but to me Davey was the glue on those teams. And kudos to your wife--a very nice gesture on her part.

From what I have seen posted, raw was in demand again at strongsville. I talked to two dealers who set up, they couldn’t keep up with the raw demand.
As shown by the grading numbers, guys are submitting left and right. I expect raw to continue to be wanted. Last edited by parkplace33; 04-14-2025 at 08:47 AM. |

I scheduled a trip back East to visit family to coincide with the Strongsville show. Ended up helping a longtime hobby friend with his table when the show opened Friday. I lived in Ohio almost my entire life and started attending Strongsville back in the 1980s. Though it has changed over the decades (different venue, different owners of the show, more autograph guests now), I think its roots are still there. I see many dealers who were there 30-40 years ago, and the same goes for attendees.
Attendance on Friday and Saturday was consistently strong, and from what I saw Friday, people were there to spend money. If any dealer had a disappointing show, I think he or she should look in the mirror to figure out why. I didn't hear the words "tariffs" or "stock market" uttered once. I didn't see the table that was devoted to Pokemon, but I can state that at the end of the show Sunday, the building was still standing, so I think everyone survived. |

I am a vintage set builder. Very happy with this show. There was an unbelievable selection of graded and ungraded cards.
This show has probably replaced the National for my collecting needs. I've been to 13 Nationals in the last 15 years and basically the same dealers I bought from there were at Strongsville.. But that's just me. |

I heard they got yelled at basically told to put it away...Idk I thought Pokemon or modern was allowed as long as it was just a small percentage of their table.

I just had a longtime collector/dealer tell me that he just doesn’t see the vintage selection in California that he sees at Midwest or East Coast shows. Whenever I attend a convention out here it’s a treasure hunt for any vintage amongst an avalanche of Pokémon and Modern cards.
There is a movement to increase vintage with larger events, like the upcoming West Coast Collectors Show (formerly known as the Burbank Card show) scheduled in August at the Anaheim Convention Center (a huge venue). If they can get some of the vintage vendors from other parts of the country to sign-up, it would be a big boost. We’ll see. |

I was at Front Row in Tacoma while everyone else was in Strongsville. Saw 4 "vintage" tables out of roughly 200 total. Their next event is in July, so fingers crossed they get it figured out by then. On a separate note.... SGC must be getting slammed right now. They were taking submissions concurrently at 3 shows last weekend alone.... Front Row, Strongsville and Shriners Boston. Hope they are hiring! ![]()
