I was really surprised to see a fair amount of modern 'shiny' stuff in several cases and I was even more surprised to see one dealer in the middle of the rink with a couple showcases full of only Pokemon. WTF? How did this guy get a table at this show?

Anyways, a good day overall and an easy drive both ways. Here's a couple of my pickups.
Which dealer had the Pokemon table? I am surprised that was allowed.

I heard they got yelled at basically told to put it away...Idk I thought Pokemon or modern was allowed as long as it was just a small percentage of their table.

I just had a longtime collector/dealer tell me that he just doesn’t see the vintage selection in California that he sees at Midwest or East Coast shows. Whenever I attend a convention out here it’s a treasure hunt for any vintage amongst an avalanche of Pokémon and Modern cards.

There is a movement to increase vintage with larger events, like the upcoming West Coast Collectors Show (formerly known as the Burbank Card show) scheduled in August at the Anaheim Convention Center (a huge venue). If they can get some of the vintage vendors from other parts of the country to sign-up, it would be a big boost. We’ll see.

That was definitely true at the Pasadena Show I attended a few weeks ago when I happened to be in LA for a few days. At least 75% was Pokemon and there were maybe 5 dealers with mainly vintage.

Yup, true about Pasadena/Front Row. They have an upcoming show in June and was told by one of the organizers that it will be a bigger and better show with more vintage. I’ll be there.

Sure hope so...

I was at Front Row in Tacoma while everyone else was in Strongsville. Saw 4 "vintage" tables out of roughly 200 total. Their next event is in July, so fingers crossed they get it figured out by then.

On a separate note.... SGC must be getting slammed right now. They were taking submissions concurrently at 3 shows last weekend alone.... Front Row, Strongsville and Shriners Boston. Hope they are hiring!

I deal in exclusively vintage. I haven't heard back from the promoters yet.

I am actively buying and selling vintage sports cards graded and raw. Feedback as a buyer: https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=297262

I am accepting select private consignments of quality vintage cards (raw or graded) and collecting "want" lists for higher end ($1K+) vintage cards.

Search the West Coast Card Show online and they have a vendors registration page (I misspoke above and said “collectors”, but it’s “card”).

Nice eBay site, BTW.
