Although it did cost me a good bit more than I was hoping it would, I did win my gotta-have item, this 1921 White's Tip Top Bread card of Wade Lefler. As some/many of you are aware (because I mention this so often), I am a passionate collector of cards of all the players who were on the 1924 Washington Senators WS Championship team. Lefler was acquired by the Senators from a minor league team in early September 1924, and his bat helped the team during its stretch run to the AL Pennant. I believe this very scarce card is the only card issued of Lefler during his playing days.
Congrats Val!

Default 1918 NY Giants Type I Photo- Spring Training Marlin, Texas

I have been looking for a Type I photo of the Giants at Spring Training in Marlin Springs, Texas for quite some time. Winning this one checks that box and one other . I love collecting various styles of images of cardigan sweaters of teams I collect. ( I also, over the years, was lucky enough to buy 3 Mitchell-Ness and 3 EFF reproduction cardigans.) In this one, some sweaters have the “NY” and some don’t, also 1918 was near the end of the era of cardigan use. Having Holt, Demaree, Sellee and other usual suspects is an added bonus. This one will find a space on the wall.
One thing I did notice, no one bid on this after me for the duration of the auction which I was happy with , but did find strange. I know there is a thread on here about the stock market , maybe people did not bid as high or as aggressively as the last REA auction because of the economy…..don’t know, be interesting to see what other auctions do. Oh well, glad to add this piece to the collection.
