More photos for me this month. Seller says the team photo came out of Kansas but I haven't researched it yet. Uniforms look like "Country Blues".

Just Purchased this amazing gag photo of the 1913 reds with Joe Tinker, Dick Egan and Dick Hoblitzell from Hobbys estate. The clarity is fantastic! Reds trainer Doc Semmons would die less than 2 months later from Heatstroke!

Managed to pick up 11 vintage B/W photos from the estate of Marie Timm this month. These date to when she was a chaperone for the Rockford Peaches...1943-45. Shown below is a great 8.5X11 of her in her uniform and also a very nice photo with Bill Allington/Marie Timm taken on August 8, 1944.

Picked up a baseball for my Integration collection that I think is enormously significant.
In 1947, in order to minimize the issues of racism and discrimination, the Dodgers held Spring Training in Havana, Cuba. The Major League team went to Cuba along with the AAA Montreal Royals who Jackie Robinson was a member of. Accompanying him was Roy Campanella, who had been promoted to the Montreal Royals and would spend the 1947 season there. This ball was signed by the 1947 Montreal Royals team. It is signed by both Robinson and Campanella, and is a rare example of a place where they signed on the same panel (right near each other). I don't know of any items (other than a photo from the Cuban trip) which are from a date so close to April 15, 1947 when Jackie broke the Major League color barrier. |

Thanks! I just ordered the book. I actually own a copy (Type I) the photo that is on the cover.
Thanks! Really excited about it. Quote:
Thanks! It slots in between my 1946 Montreal Royals team signed ball and 1947 Dodgers signed ball in telling the Jackie Robinson story. Last edited by Topnotchsy; 03-23-2025 at 12:29 AM. |
