Monte Irvin on one of his visits to my house in 2004, I showed him many photos, cards, posters, etc., which he autographed. When I showed him this photo with Thompson and Pearson, he stayed for a while thinking or remembering, then he smiled and told me: now I remember, we had some beers and we had a very pleasant time talking about baseball, then he signed it for me, he told me that he had never seen that photo.

Can you date this photo ? Beer can collectors love old pictures like this trying to identify the cans and nail down a time frame - without looking at the picture Up close I can narrow it down Between World War II and 1950

A few minutes ago I read your message regarding the photo of Monte Irvin drinking beer with Thompson and Pearson, that photo is from a bar in Cuba, Irvin played in 1948 and 1949 in Almendares, I looked for the photo and with my old phone I took a photo of the beer cans, Blue Ribbon, it is not detailed well in the photo because I had to shrink it so that it can be published on net54, I saw it with a magnifying glass and it details more the signs, I think you might like those photos, greetings.

Thanks , the picture helps - would be the far can on the right , probably 1948 .
Being sold in Cuba it’s probably the scarcer withdrawn tax statement Rather than the typical internal revenue tax paid , There would’ve been very few American beers available abroad during the late 40s

Roland, it’s amazing to me that I’ve seen hundreds if not thousands of Latin American and Negro League photos over the years but it’s the first time ever seeing this PARTICULAR photograph with Torriente and Pedroso.

Just outstanding! Keep ‘em coming!
