Default Pics are way, way too large

While it's great to see all of the other things members collect, it's not great when members are too lazy to resize the pics posted. If a pic is 2x the size of my 24" screen, it messes up the thread. Many pics have been taken down and many more will be too. Don't be lazy and please resize your pics before posting.

Good! I always reduce mine to no more than 1000 pixels wide.

There's only one Huckleberry Hound/Quick Draw McGraw lunch box. But I posted both sides and added an Atom Ant/Secrert Squirrel thermos for good measure!

I've been involved with a lot of different hobbies over the years. Some more than others. I think of those as dormant collecting interests, that might revive if something nice cam my way affordably.

Currently my non trading card interests are Stamps US, German, and especially
the official stamps of the US from 1873 into the 1880's. B
Bicycles, especially team used aero bikes from the 80's until just before 2000 when the crazy stuff was all banned. Plus any associated stuff like the helmets etc.

[QUOTE=TheBig6;2485395]Just some of my finds over the years.

Neat stuff! Looks like a fun hobby. Had to pull out my cheap metal detector to search my yard in hopes of finding the bracelet I wore for past 9 years with no luck

I seriously laughed out loud for that one. I have only had one good guitar. After owning it easily 6-8 years I sold it because in that time I played it maybe a couple years. I have played off and on for 40 years now with way more off than on. So now I just have an Epi SG and a Squier Strat. Don't care if they sit around for months or years between being played.

Like you Steve, I've collected a lot of different things as items came my way. I've collected Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars. Aside from the sports cards, I've collected a lot of non-sports cards. I picked up multiple British tobacco sets mostly from the 1930's and 1940's.

My other main collection at the moment is music. Both the physical media (CDs and records) and vintage equipment. I have several 1970's receivers and turntables. These take up too much room and will probably have to be reduced to just one set to listen to. I've posted one example.

Hey, wow, G.I. Combat 68! That's the Sgt. Rock prototype issue. And it's in really nice condition for a comic that hit newsstands in November 1958 thus predating even Flash 105.

Two outstanding Boston-area bands. Lots of people consider those two shoegaze but they were more the indie rock realm for me (which is an unpopular opinion). Absolutely love early-90s UK shoegaze including Lush, MBV, Ride, Cocteaus, JAMC and a billion more. Madchester is pretty cool for me but a little too much funk and not enough overdrive Still liked some of the bands including Stone Roses (first album only), Charlatans, Happy Mondays, Soup Dragons, etc.

A 1204!? I can't even find specs on that one quickly.

I looked hard at getting a Dual 1219 in the very early 1970's but in the end opted for a Gerrard SL95B with a Shure M91ED cartridge.

Incidentally, are you aware of Doctor Dual?

Doctor Dual

Actually it's a Dual 1264. Picked it up at Goodwill believe or not. It came with the user manual and all the other paper work. They said it came in the box, but they threw away the box!

Oh wow! That's certainly more extensive than my own lunch box collection and a lot of them are drool worthy, e.g. Jet Patrol, Supercar, Donald Duck, Looney Tunes, Davy Crockett, Lone Ranger, Rifleman, etc.

Are yours all vintage originals or do you have some repros from the last 25-30 years mixed in with your originals?

Thanks. I wish there was Net54 for lunchbox collectors.

My LBs are all originals (no repros). At some point space became a consideration, so I've been trying to focus on fewer items in top condition (with exceptions for a few rarer items like the Underdog and Knight in Armor). I really like boxes with the original tags or items with their original boxes when I can find them.

Default Concert tickets ...

I kept almost all of my tickets from concerts including my first show in 1978, David Bowie in Ottawa.

I have many other tickets and change them up every so often as there isn't enough space for all of them.

Great idea for a thread...

Yes, that's a real problem with lunch boxes.

Where do you find most of your lunch boxes? Ebay? Or do you know of any good dedicated lunch box dealers?

And what's the lunch box with the light yellow rim with the Indians on the upper left corner?

Moreover your bottom picture is a bit too big. I actually limit all my pics to 1000 pixels in width.

What you need to do though is to Edit your first post to replace the pictures. Leaving overly large pictures anywhere on a page messes up the formatting of a page.

My "other" collection is one I haven't seen yet in this thread. I collect recordings of old time radio shows. It always surprises me that many people are unaware that before television, radio was like...television. Sitcoms, dramas, variety shows, it had everything. You had big stars like Jack Benny, Fred Allen, Eddie Cantor and others, and you had some great shows of every type - Suspense, Lights Out, Inner Sanctum (radio was REALLY good for horror stories, since you could get away with some astounding levels of violence when you're dealing with audio only).

Even shows that existed in both media show a difference. Gunsmoke started in radio a few years before it started on TV. William Conrad was the original Marshall Dillon. I'm not a fan of Westerns and couldn't care less about the TV Gunsmoke. But the radio version is one of the best continuing dramas I've ever heard. The radio version was also much more adult - Dodge City was violent and unjust (you wouldn't want to live there), and Miss Kitty was clearly meant to be a hooker (although they couldn't say so explicitly).

A large portion of radio was not preserved, but a good bit of it has survived and is avidly collected by a few enthusiasts. Recordings can be heard as full computer files or as mp3 recordings. I have a library of over 60,000 shows and could get my hands on more.

By the way, I do have a few sports-related recordings - lots of Bill Stern shows, which include interviews and also his very improbable sports tall tales. I also have a handful of complete game broadcasts, including the last game of the 1934 season between the Tigers and the Yankees.

As for photos, how about an exhibit card picturing the Lone Ranger and Tonto?

The Lone Ranger unmasked? At last, we can identify him.

Default Cruiser Head

I also have a passion for Toyota Landcruisers.

I currently own this 1990 Japanese Domestic Market HZJ77 right hand drive diesel and 2024 First Edition.
Love those 70 series builds! Unfortunately they were never offered new in the U.S. market.

Hoping to add an Icon FJ44 or FJ45 in the future.
