What else do you collect?

Just wondering what else you guys collect not sports related. I'm sure there are some gems out there to show.
One of my faves.

I probably have one that no one else will say. I collect Funko Pops, though more than half of mine are Simpsons ones, so I have a fairly specific collection. Sort of like if someone collected T206 cards and had the set, but there are also some random T cards from other sets there too.

My brother, who is nine years younger than me, started collecting them when they first came out. He has over 400 now I believe. My mom bought me a Grinch one at Christmas six years ago. I even said to her, what am I going to do with this? I put it on my desk, where it sat as the only one I had for over a year. That was until I saw some Simpsons ones and decided to buy them.

It makes shopping for me easier for other people. At my birthday in a few months, I'll just send whatever ones I want to people and they will usually get them. Then find new ones I want between then and Christmas. I learned that it prevents people from buying me clothes.

Boys Series Books

I have a collection of over 700 Horatio Alger, Jr. books. Horatio was a prominent author of stories for boys who went from rags to riches, perhaps best known for his Ragged Dick series.

I'll start with my model kit collection then.

I've been collecting unbuilt model kits since about 1983. Here from a few years ago are some pics of my main model cabinet in the den where I keep a lot of my collectibles:

http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...psea8058c8.jpg

http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...psea461e53.jpg

https://hosting.photobucket.com/albu...ps0dde3de9.jpg

http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0d586899.jpg

http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...attshirt-2.jpg

Here's the miscellaneous toy cabinet in which I keep the overflow from my model kit cabinet:

http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...pscf9768ae.jpg

http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8efbfe83.jpg

And a few close-up shots featuring Styx:

https://hosting.photobucket.com/albu...insidekits.jpg

https://hosting.photobucket.com/albu...gelFinketc.jpg

http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...catSlotcar.jpg

Here are my three latest acquisitions which aren't pictured in the shots of the cabinets:

Revell 1/24 Mr. Rat Fink in Lotus Ford

https://hosting.photobucket.com/85c5...264e2495fb.jpg

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...SNDmcBAQUA.jpg

It's over the top wild cool! Revell launched the above two slot car kits in 1965 with this ad in magazines such as Car Model and Boy's Life:

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...lot_car_ad.jpg

The two kits are demand scarce because of x-over interest from both "Big Daddy" Roth fans and slot car enthusiasts

Monogram 1/24 Indy Lotus Type 38

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...x5SE96nyMZ.jpg

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...EoV5sfQJe2.jpg

The Indy Lotus is widely hailed as being among Monogram's very finest slot car offerings and mint-in-box ones are super difficult to find these days.

Cox 1/24 Ford GT40

https://hosting.photobucket.com/85c5...637158b1cf.png

https://hosting.photobucket.com/85c5...d3c83f4ba4.png

Cox was technically almost half a year ahead of the other slot car manufacturers during the slot car boom of 1964-67 (and bust in 1968). And the 1/24 scale Ford GT40 is among Cox's all around best when combining both appearance and performance. The other kits on my list look somewhat crude in comparison to this Cox Ford GT40. Unassembled ones are also tough to find these days. The GT40 will nonetheless be knocked from my list of favourites if and when I manage to score a 1/24 Cox Cheetah.

Vintage matchbox that screams “childhood” to me.
The only one I have but my deceased father in law who I loved dearly worked as a sales manager at a Lincoln Mercury Dealer for a time and he used to tell me stories about driving around this exact car as his demo.
Had to have it and bought pre Covid at an antique store before pricing on these really exploded.

I grew up in the banking industry, starting at a bank called Coast Federal Savings. The rabbit was their trademark and this bank was given to their "best" clients. The others were primarily California banks that are no longer in business. These are some of the collection.

Great idea for a thread! It's fun to see what others collect as I have a lot of interests myself.

Ahh...here we go.

I "dabble" in a lot of collectibles. I could probably build a world class collection of something if I had any focus at all.

Sports are the main thing I collect but I also collect non-sports, and dabble in new and vintage coin-op, vintage movie posters, fine art, NOS concert posters, comics, fine shotguns (The only thing I hunt is a clay pigeon), etc.. As a GenX kid born in the early 70's that grew up in the 80's, I collect a lot of 70's/80's toy's/cards/nostalgic items.

Below are some photos of my stuff I have on my phone. Most are 1-3 years old and the displays (including the cabinets) have all changed. The cabinet with all the sports unopened I'm only posting because it shows some of my comics and non-sports. The framed poster is the finest known Swedish one sheet for the 1936 Universal horror classic Draculas Daughter. The display boxes are 1964 Topps/Bubbles Outer Limits and 1965 Donruss Hot Rod issues. The two paintings are original pieces from one of my favorite modern artists, Stephen Mackey. The photo of the Sea Wolf is before it was restored, etc..

Lots of great stuff posted!

Balticfox, your collection is amazing! I love that stuff but thankfully I haven't started collecting that as well. LOL

I collect various items of Jazz bassist/composer Charles Mingus (I play bass, as well.) I've pieced together some memorabilia including autographs, magazines, concert posters, and so on. No pictures, as I haven't bothered to document any of it. I should make that a goal for 2025.

On the same topic, I collect "Classic Vibe" Jazz and Precision basses made by Squier (Fender's "entry level" brand.) I focus on those that were produced in China between 2008 and 2013. Production quality from this period was exceptional, and rivals that of the U.S. made Fender basses of similar type. I have 2 Precisions (2008 and 2012) and 1 Jazz (2009.)

Sometimes you just gotta laugh!!
Because of your image, I decided to look up Rory Calhoun on Wikipedia, and look at this highlighted section (referring to Lita Baron):

Personal life (color emphasis added)
Calhoun was married three times, once to his first wife and twice to his second wife. He had three daughters with first wife Lita Baron (m. 1948–1970), Cindy, Tami, and Lorri. When Baron sued Calhoun for divorce, she named Betty Grable as one of 79 women with whom he had adulterous relationships. Calhoun replied to her charge: "Heck, she didn't even include half of them".

HA HA!!!! What a charmer he was!!!!

Wow, some really awesome stuff, wish we had a "Like" button!

Just like my baseball card focus on primarily Post-War, so is my other passion...I collect classic cars from 1955 to 1973. My collection is rather varied, from muscle cars to VW's...I love them all. There has been some tough decisions in my past...a certain card, or a certain car. The cars usually win out on big purchases, you can't drive a baseball card! :)

My collection -

1956 Chevrolet Nomad
1960 Chevrolet Corvette
1963 Ford Falcon Sprint
1964 VW Bus
1965 Ford Mustang
1967 Ford Mustang
1967 Ford F-250
1968 MG Midget
1968 VW Bus
1971 VW Bus
1971 VW Super Beetle
1971 VW Super Beetle Convertable
1971 Ford F-100
1973 Chevrolet Corvette
1973 VW Karman Ghia

Oh wow! I love the Elvira pinball machine! I'd really like to get an electro-mechanical pinball machine (or two or three) from the mid-1970's (or earlier) but they take up a lot of room. So it's not something I can do unless and until I move from Toronto.
