Default O/T - you think our prices are too high?

Kinda feel like this could be a sign that we've reached peak froth.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...n/76477492007/

Of course, prophets of doom who keep predicting doom are bound to be right sooner or later. Something about predicting 27 of the last 5 recessions.

But for my money, $6M+ could buy a lot more exciting stuff than some banana (with duct tape), even if it has been anointed as fine art by the cognoscenti.

And the winner doesn't even get the banana—only permission to tape a different banana to the wall and say it's this particular artwork.

I can assure you that upper middle class and rich not only stayed rich during the "pandemic era"...many got richer.

Williams Sonoma is having no problem with inventory, sales, or profit. Whatever money crunch much of the world is experiencing, it's not effecting their clientele.

The beginning of the pandemic shutdowns (early 2000) put a lot of stress on the investor class, but by late-summer/fall 2000 there was plenty of money to be made if you had excess investment income that wasn't trying to cover rent and groceries.

For that type of money I would expect a wax banana, because who wants to keep taping up fresh bananas?

For a mere $620 I will send anyone interested:

1) a fresh banana

2) a 2 pack roll of unopened duct tape and

3) a certificate of authenticity

Don't miss out on this killer deal, saving you over $6,000,000 and giving more value! Offer good while supplies last.

I was considering how I could swing the million, but then noticed it is crunchy peanut butter. I prefer creamy.

But keep in mind that you’re not buying that *specific* jar of peanut butter. You’re buying a license to tape your *own* jar of peanut butter to the wall, and a certificate of authenticity. You could make yours creamy if you want.

Creamy is clearly the first telltale sign of a forgery.

Even if I were to supply my own creamy peanut butter, deep inside I would feel, as BillyCoxDodgers3B has stated, that I were creating a forgery. My million will wait until the artist creates a creamy version.

Is the name brand of the peanut butter important to you as well?

And leaves painted surfaces intact when removed. I wall-mount all my produce and food product jars under 3 pounds with it.

Duct tape makes it art, so that is why avoid using it. To avoid potential lawsuits, of course.

Do you have a special technique for mounting raspberries and blueberries? Those always give me trouble.

Don,

You carry on with your Avant-Garde work. The peasants and nay sayers will always have something to say.

The banana art is a cheap imitation of Andy Warhols album cover art.

Peanut butter with blue trim tape is inspired.

I've been using the same technique for years, but like all true artistes, my focus will always be solely dedicated to the nude female form.*

Yes, of course they are.

Grading doesn't matter when it comes to fine art. Nor does restoration. But authentication is all-important. Therefore the provenance of a piece is key.

And of course it's "expert" opinion that determines whether a piece of artwork is "fine" or not. Therefore if a 150 year old painting is found in a garage and it's adjudged to have been painted by Vincent Van Gogh, it's "worth" $millions. But if it's adjudged to have been painted by some other painter living down the street, it won't fetch a euro. But of course it's the same painting and its quality hasn't changed.
